I resolved this issue but figured I’d pass over the details on the chance it’s helpful to other people… even if it’s a little embarrassing.
The problem: Printer began operating as normal, heating print head and bed to specified temp, moved to center stage… then skipped the print and reported ‘print completed’.
Surrounding details: I’d been using blutac as extra ‘reinforcement’ for build tray adhesion… because, shrinkage in cool temps can be a problem for the best of us.
Cause of problem: The extendable auto-level ‘pin’ had collected some of said blutac… preventing it from dropping downward to detect bed height. While this type of error wasn’t included in the software, at least the retracted auto-level pin position wasn’t used to determine print bed distance from extruder nozzle; I’d rate this as a slight positive seeing as the alternative would have caused significant damage.
Solution: Initiate auto-leveling of print bed and gently pull the pin downward when the system attempted to detect print bed height. A fair bit of room is available around that pin for blutac to accumulate, resulting in an ‘exciting’ game of blutac cleaning whack-a-mole.
