Printing with TPU Advice

Does anyone have experience of successful prints with TPU filament using an Ender 3 S1 Pro? If so I would be interested to receive advice on settings etc.

Many thanks…

Yes loads, just make sure you print slowly and at the right temps. Max 30 and I run 232°c

Hello !

With TPU, you generally have to :

  • Print very slowly (Max volumetric speed at 2 or 3 in the slicer)
  • Dry it as much as possible before and during the print (it loves humidity)
  • Remove any friction like a PTFE tube between the spool and the extruder !

Thank you for your replies.

I would be grateful for some further details:

  1. What is the lowest hardness of TPU that you are successfully printing on an Ender 3 S1 Pro?
  2. What nozzle temperature? (232 is very specific MettaUK)
  3. Bed temperature?
  4. Print speed?
  5. Retraction distance?
  6. Retraction speed?
  7. Fan speed / % ?

Many thanks again.

eSun e-elastic TPE is the softest material I’ve used.

Generally speed is about 30.

Retraction is either off or about 0.2mm

Fan speed around 60 -80% depending on overhangs etc.

Bed 50°c

Hot end 230 - 235°c

Generally slow and steady is the key with softer material. As said by others, dry filament is also important.

Thanks for the update MettaUK, I shall look into using TPE
