Hi everyone,

I installed the CFS multi-material module on my K1C, and a firmware update that came with it broke several things that worked fine before:

  1. Can’t add the printer via IP in Orca Slicer — it’s detected on the network but fails to connect.
  2. Can’t add the printer via IP in Creality Print either — the printer shows up in the “Add devices” scan (IP correct, device name shows as “unknown”), but clicking “Add” always fails with “Failed to add the printer.” I confirmed this isn’t a network/firewall issue — I tested with PowerShell’s Test-NetConnection and the relevant ports (8000, 7125) respond fine from my PC.
  3. Fluidd, which I had working before the update, now gives a 404 error when I try to open it in the browser. Checking via SSH, the ports Fluidd/Mainsail used to run on (4408/4409) aren’t listening anymore at all — it looks like the update wiped that install completely, along with root access being reset (I had to re-enable everything).

The printer otherwise boots and prints fine from the touchscreen — this seems to be specifically about local network connectivity/API being broken for third-party tools (Orca, Creality Print, Fluidd), not the printer itself being unusable.

I was hoping to downgrade back to the monochrome firmware I had before (I have the matching CR4CU220812S11 .img file ready), but the standard SSH downgrade method shared elsewhere in this forum (using /etc/ota_bin/local_ota_update.sh) doesn’t work on my printer — that script/path doesn’t exist on this firmware at all. My printer’s system seems to use a different, more recent internal structure (renamed system processes, different file paths for standard utilities) than what that guide assumes.

At this point I’d honestly be happy with any of the following:

  • A working downgrade to monochrome firmware, or
  • A full factory reset back to stock (removing Fluidd/Mainsail/root modifications entirely) that actually restores normal connectivity to Orca and Creality Print, or
  • Official guidance on what’s different about this firmware build that’s breaking local API connectivity for third-party slicers.

Has anyone else run into this exact combination after installing CFS? Is there an official fix, or a firmware image meant specifically to restore local connectivity without a full downgrade?

Mainboard: CR4CU220812
Current firmware: multicolor/CFS version (installed via the CFS setup update)

Thanks in advance for any pointers.
