Question about CFS installation on K1C (filament sensor and coupling)

Hi everyone,
I’m installing the CFS system on my Creality K1C and I have a doubt about the filament path.

The kit includes a small coupling (a PTFE connector with two inputs) that is placed between the filament sensor and the printhead. With this setup, the filament goes through three PTFE tubes:

  1. CFS → filament sensor

  2. Sensor → side coupling

  3. Coupling → printhead

However, on the Creality Hi Combo (which comes with CFS by default), the filament sensor is mounted vertically on the side frame, and the path is more direct, without using that coupling:

  1. CFS → sensor

  2. Sensor → printhead

I saw a maker who installed his K1C sensor vertically (just like on the Hi Combo), removing the coupling and the extra PTFE tube, and he said it worked better because it reduces friction and potential clog points.

My questions are:

  • Does that coupling on the K1C actually have a real purpose, or is it just an unnecessary add-on?

  • Can I mount the sensor vertically and go directly to the printhead like on the Hi Combo without issues?

  • Has anyone here tried both setups and can share their experience?

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering the same thing bc i have k1c trying to see if the filament sensor was the problem that I’m having bc now its not there Let me know if that helped you bc i could use some help to
