Smashing Doors

Seems to be a spate of K1/K1C machines doors shattering, hinges stressing the glass if you open it a tad too far (Creality Facebook users). Seems to have been 2 answers, redesigned hinges such as these or replace glass with perspex/acrylic/plexiglass like these or these there seem to be a couple of kits for about $15 (cannae find a link cap’n but did see one )

One of the first things I did for my K1C is get rid of those lame hinges and replace them with some I found on Printables. Mine are the 270 degree doors that open all the way around to the side of the case, no more working around the stupid door sticking out!

These are simple and work great!

I also installed the hinged lid and riser so the plastic chain didn’t scrape along the top of the lid.

Is not the k1c door shatter proof and moor stable hinges

Thats the K2plus that is made a lot better, the 270 degree hinges work really well on the K1 series.

My problem with the K1C hinges is they only opened 90 degrees, I didn’t have a problem breaking the door. However, it constantly gets in the way when you’re dealing with the printer, having it open all the way around solves the problem neatly.

When you’re working with the printer, which door position would you rather have with the door “open”? It was an easy decision for me.

Yes, I also installed the hinged lid riser to keep the extruder cables from rubbing the lid. I modified the left hand riser panel to extend it out so the chain didn’t keep banging on it when I was printing something near the left side of the build plate. I also modified the right lid hinge so the bowden tube came out properly around it.
