My Setup: (but possible universal fix)
-
MacBook running CrealityScan v4.1.2.16
-
Ferret Pro scanner with Wireless Bridge
-
iPhone for mobile scanning (used after bridge password setup)
The Problem
For nearly a week, my CrealityScan software on Mac would not show the “Set Password” pop-up that’s required to enable wireless scanning after Creality’s new Wi-Fi security update.
Here’s what was happening:
-
I turned on my Ferret Pro and Wireless Bridge.
-
I connected my Mac to the Wireless Bridge Wi-Fi network (e.g.,
Creality_WB_XXXX). -
The Wi-Fi connection showed as connected, and my Mac clearly displayed the bridge network.
-
But when I opened CrealityScan, the “Set Password” pop-up never appeared, and under Settings → Device Management, it said “No Device” — meaning neither the scanner nor the bridge were being detected.
I confirmed everything else:
-
Software version up to date

-
Firmware downloaded

-
Reset the bridge

-
Rebooted everything

I spent six days trying to figure out why the app still didn’t recognize the bridge.
The Discovery (and Fix)
The missing piece turned out to be something nowhere mentioned in any Creality guide:
Even if you connect your Mac to the Wireless Bridge Wi-Fi, you must unplug the LAN (Ethernet) cable or disable the wired network adapter — otherwise, the “Set Password” pop-up will never appear.
As soon as I unplugged my LAN cable:
-
The Set Password window appeared immediately in CrealityScan.
-
Under Settings → Device Management, both the scanner and the Wireless Bridge showed up instantly.
-
I was then able to update the firmware for both devices and set the Wi-Fi password successfully.
-
After that, my Ferret Pro scanned perfectly via Wi-Fi, including on my iPhone.
Why This Happens
macOS (and Windows, too) gives Ethernet higher priority than Wi-Fi in the network service order.
Even if you’re “connected” to the Wireless Bridge via Wi-Fi, the system will still send network discovery packets through the Ethernet adapter — where the bridge isn’t listening.
CrealityScan uses local UDP broadcast to detect the Wireless Bridge, so those packets never reach it when the wired interface is active.
Unplugging the LAN cable (or disabling Ethernet) forces your Mac to use Wi-Fi as the active interface, allowing discovery to work as intended.
Quick Fix Summary
-
Turn on WLAN/Wi-Fi on your Mac or PC.
-
Connect to your Creality Wireless Bridge Wi-Fi (
Creality_WB_XXXX). -
Unplug or disable the LAN/Ethernet cable or adapter.
-
Launch CrealityScan → the “Set Password” pop-up should now appear.
-
Once prompted, set your Wi-Fi password and update firmware.
Bonus Tip (Optional)
If you’d rather not unplug every time:
Go to System Settings → Network → … (three dots) → Set Service Order → drag Wi-Fi above Ethernet.
That makes Wi-Fi your primary network, so discovery packets always go out over Wi-Fi first.
Invitation to Other Users
This fix worked for me on macOS with a Ferret Pro and Wireless Bridge, and I was able to resume scanning with my iPhone afterward.
If you’re on Windows and this fix helps you too, please reply to this post so we can confirm it’s cross-platform.
The more confirmations we gather, the easier it will be for Creality to update their official documentation.
The Fix in One Sentence
If CrealityScan says “No Device” and never shows the Set Password pop-up —
UNPLUG YOUR LAN CABLE (or disable Ethernet).
It’s that simple.
