Stardust Hyper PLA

Had been having numerous print failures trying to print with the new “Stardust” PLAs on my Sparkx. I don’t think it should be necessary to use an adhesive on a textured PEI plate.

For me, the trick was to raise the bed temperature to 70C on the 1st two layers, then reduce by 5C for each layer down to 55C. Now successfully printing a 16 hour project.

Yes, the filament was dry. Yes, the bed was clean, dry and leveled. Yes, the nozzle temperature PID was calibrated.

So the failures were that it didn’t stick? Did it warp? If so I would try limiting the volumetric flow rate and increase the timer per layer to give the filament more time to settle and cause less tensions in the print that cause the warping. The first layer looked fine?

Some people think they know better… if the print doesn’t stick to the buildplate, the buildplate isn’t cleaned the right way, z-height for first layer is to high or it simply needs adhesive because of wear of the buildplate…

Nope - 1st layer started to tear (dragged by the nozzle) so I terminated print. I was able to print with normal PLA (or Hyper PLA) both before and after the Stardust print with no problem. After raising the bed temperature, Stardust prints OK most of the time. Thanks for the input.
