Stupid question about the CFS and mutiple spools of the same colour PLA

I have had my K2 Plus for a few weeks (my first ever 3D printer) and it is printing fantasticly … im up to about 150 hours of printing and all is going really well. I have a question i do not seem to find the answer to and that is If i am printing something that i know the current spool will not complete can i add a second spool of the same pla to the CFS and the printer and cfs automaticly switch to the second spool when the first one runs out ?

Yes, it works!
You need to have the same filament type AND color in the CMS list, example for a white PLA-Silk you need to have another white PLA-Silk!
The filament need to be recognized (the white led below need to be on) and CMS needed to do this ‘initialization step’ before you start print because within print you cannot add filaments anymore!

For large overnight prints I use this frequently.

p.s.: There is also the not completely automatic way:
When there is no filament match in CMS then printer stops and waits, if you are next to printer you can put into the slot which you just completed manually another spool (also with other color but it need to be same type or print settings) and press continue on printer.
This will continue with whatever you put into the same slot.

I use this often for functional prints where I do not care about the color but print out rest of nearly empty spools.

Thank you for the reply im going to try this out this week. Loving the K2 so far but i am truly still in the novice zone

Just a quick update i tested this today and it worked perfectly…

I agree with all the above.
Just a caution: some spools have mild “S” curves where the filament ends on the spool. ( The start if you are winding up a spool). These will pass through fine. However, some have hard bends. They may work fine, but when doing a large print, and you do not want to take the chance, as the filament comes off the spool, just cut it off. Either way, the K2/CFS will load up the next spool and continue no problem. Interesting note: I recently added another CFS. I imagine it still works but have yet to test loading a subsequent spool from the 2nd CFS.

Excellent tip i will watch out for this and snip off the S piece.
