I’m troubleshooting a Creality K2 Pro with intermittent auto-level failures.
Symptoms:
-
During auto leveling, the bed moves upward until a loud mechanical “bang” occurs, as if the printer fails to detect nozzle contact with the bed.
-
The process aborts with “System error”.
-
Sometimes the left side probing works but the right side fails, and sometimes it fails already on the left side.
-
The problem appears intermittent rather than permanently failed.
Based on available reports and Creality documentation, the most commonly suspected causes seem to be:
-
Toolhead cable / printhead cable (intermittent connection or broken wire)
-
Strain gauge (force sensor used for nozzle contact detection)
-
Toolhead board / hotend adapter board
-
Mechanical issue in the hotend assembly
Current planned troubleshooting order:
-
Inspect and reseat all toolhead connectors and cables
-
Inspect toolhead cable for damage, stress, or intermittent faults
-
Replace toolhead cable if needed
-
Replace strain gauge if the issue persists
I have not found enough evidence to confidently identify a single root cause, so I’m interested in hearing from others who experienced similar symptoms on K2/K2 Pro/K2 Plus printers:
- What was the actual root cause?
- Which component solved the issue?
- Did the failure start intermittently like this?
