When I got my K2 Plus, when starting a new print it put the live down the left and front corner. Now on every print, it makes some zig zag design on the left and a 6 inch long bar on the right on every print. Why did it start doing this? It was pre update.
Have you activated the AI-function of your printer? The zigzag-pattern is for Lidar Calibration!
I do not see my original text in my post?
I am not really sure. I have not strayed beyond the default settings as I learn my machine. I cannot recall changing anything. Does this mean the AI function is on? Thanks for your time in responding.
To switch off the AI-driven zigzag calibration lines and other AI functions on the Creality K2 Plus, you can manage settings in either Creality Print slicer or directly on the printer screen.
Methods to Disable AI/Zigzag Functions:
During Print Setup (Before Printing): When initiating a print, uncheck the “Calibration” option in the dialog box on the printer screen to prevent the lidar scan and associated zigzag movements.
Via Printer Settings (Permanent Off): Navigate to System Settings > Camera > AI Function on the printer display to turn off AI detection, which controls spaghetti detection and related AI alerts.
In Creality Print Slicer: Go to the settings menu within the slicer to uncheck AI features.
Preventing Auto-Calibration: If the printer continues to perform auto-calibration (including the zigzag pattern) even when disabled, send the file to the printer first, then start it from the machine’s screen and manually uncheck the calibration option.
Removing the Lidar: Some users have resorted to removing the physical Lidar unit to permanently stop the calibration sequence.
Note on “Zigzags”: The “zigzag” lines are the nozzle-level AI camera conducting flow rate calibration (Lidar calibration).
I don’t have a lot of experience with 3D printing so please take this next question as I am genuinely curious.
If the lidar calibration is measuring flow rate, why would you turn it off? Wouldn’t that help when you are using different filaments and/or printing at different temperatures?
… start with the basics… if you don’t learn how your 3D-printer works you will have a hard time when AI of your printer fails…
I do 3D-printing for years and had to learn the basics because there was no AI to help ![]()
I understand the need for using the lidar for better prints. And I would rather leave it on. What sucks is, it does not show where the test print is going to be during slicing. Therefor, I don’t really know where to adjust my part to avoid it printing in the same space. I have overlapped it twice now on prints on accident.
