Recently I tried to print off a bobbin thread holder with a multicolor PETG and it wasn’t sticking to the bed like it should have. So I took it into consideration that it’s been a while since the bed has been cleaned. So I took some Rubbing Alcohol and rubbed it clean. Tried the print again and it was still having the same issue as before. So I wanted for my dad to get home and he suggested to try the non-multi-color filament just the regular PETG. I came to do that but it still comes across that issue. What should I do?
A proper bed clean of dishwashing up liquid, something like Dawn or Fairy. Then dry it with paper towels, then a rub down with isopropyl alcohol 96%+. Alcohol on its own doesn’t get everything off. PETG is usually quite forgiving, if you have the z-offset good enough for PLA then PETG should be fine. Perhaps print with a brim, that sometimes helps. Gluestick perhaps if you wish.
I’d like to say that it’s not the plate that is causing the issue. It was the dryer not drying the entire spool of the filament. There was probably a foot or two that wasn’t drying.
Thanks for your help and advice.
The bit of filament between dryer and printhead, might be an idea to snip that bit out and start from freshly dried filament. That little bit will soak up moisture, often had first print fail for that reason.
