The K2 Pro magnetic plate is peeling off the metal heated bed

Hello. I bought a new K2 Pro printer a month ago, but for the past 40 days, I’ve been having trouble with the print bed: the magnetic sheet situated between the PEI plate and the metal bed base has started peeling off. Initially, all four edges came loose; I tried securing them with heat-resistant tape—which allowed me to print for another four hours—but then the long sides and the center started peeling as well. I contacted ArtLine, the Ukrainian online store where I bought it, and they offered to fix the defect, but the cost of round-trip shipping and insurance falls entirely on me. I don’t think this is right, considering I paid the full price and the unit is under warranty. However, I wanted to ask something else: if I reach an agreement with the store and they send me a replacement sheet, are there any specific nuances to the installation process (removing the old one, cleaning and degreasing the surface, applying the new sheet)? For instance, is there a specific bed temperature required during application? Do I need to apply extra adhesive, or should I press the parts together after application to ensure better adhesion?

As much as I am always up for a DIY repair challenge, if this were my new printer, this would be an immediate warranty claim. There is no reason you should waiver on that and do not accept the offer that they will send you replacement parts. Remind them that you purchased a finished product, not one that was “Chabuduo” (差不多)

I have a K2 Plus and experienced the same problem. The printer was still under warranty so I contacted Creality Support and they eventually sent out a new bed assembly to replace it i.e. the magnetic sheet didn’t need to be re-installed as it came preassembled with the bed.

I followed this Creality YouTube video to install the new bed - the K2 Pro is likely the same or very similar (check if Creality has a K2 Pro specific video available).

One step that wasn’t in the video at that time was physically leveling the bed via it’s corner adjustment screws which I mentioned to Creality Support - I just used the typical ‘paper sheet leveling at each corner’ method to get it as level as possible before commencing with a full calibration via the UI.

First and foremost… Слава Україні!

I have 5 printers an have been 3d printing for ~13years.

My K2 plus has over 1400 hour on it and is my main printer.

It works well enough after SIGNIFICANT work arounds.

Warranty support has been beyond excellent.

Two things are driving my decision to buy from another manufacturer.

1 -Creality is locking down open source and is playing fast and loose with online printers (mine isn’t any more)

2- The K2 Plus (and pro I think) has a garbage bed. Calling it a trumpian taco is an understatement. For large flat prints I have to preheat for over 30 minutes because the bed twists like a worm on a griddle as it comes up to temperature.

Warranty replacement first. If that is not possible, DO NOT Get a new Creality bed. It will warp variably and be useless for fast printing of anything but small components.

I am in the process of replacing the stock bed with a graphite r3men (no affiliation) which should make the printer work as advertised.

I am using mine for light industrial production. It is a great printer, but needs a fair bit of modification to meet that level of performance.

Not dissing it at all.

And again….

Слава Україні!

Good afternoon. The store did eventually call me back, and we agreed on round-trip shipping at their expense. I suspect the entire warranty repair would have simply involved reattaching the magnetic layer using new adhesive tape. For now, I told them I would try to fix the issue myself, as I felt a magnetic layer reattached with tape would likely start peeling off again eventually. In the end, I cleaned and degreased the surface, then bonded it using automotive sealant (which is rated for high temperatures up to 300°C). After calibrating the bed level, the variance was 0.4 mm (compared to the factory calibration at 110°C, which showed a variance of 0.85 mm). I am satisfied with the result so far; time will tell if the magnetic layer holds up with the sealant.
