I have a K2 plus at the moment. The printer has been very reliable so far. Currently sitting on # 80 of 4 hour prints. Has anybody got a bambu sitting beside their K2 plus? Just curious how they compare.
From my understanding and from what I was able to try at work (they have a few printers from each brand) :
Without touching at anything, the Bambulab is a bit better…However, the K2 has way more potentiel (and a bigger bed with active heating
)…
So when the printer leaves the cardboard box, the K2plus is generally losing…
Once you set up everything (thanks to his open system), the K2plus is clearly winning though
I ran 2 printers for about 6 months, a K2+ and my old ender 3v3.
what I would say is think of what scenarios you want to use 2 printers for, if you can list those then it will help make the choice of what you want the second printer to be capable of doing.
I.e is the second printer for long TPU prints, does the second printer need to support ASA/ABS, thus enclosures - active heating etc..
Do you want to easily move - reuse nozzles between printers..
If all you want a second printer is for basic PLA printing, or basic multi-colour printing PLA, that then really drives you towards things like CR-Hi/A1’s over enclosure types .
Or 2nd printer exactly the same so you only need 1 set of spare parts…
Second printer would be mainly for petg. The reason I was wondering about a different brand is…..it seems like there are quite a few people having issues with there K2 plus. The one I have has been very reliable “so far” it has over 600 hours of printing now. In 2 months. Minimum issues, one nozzle replacement, 3 clogs… thats it.
With hearing all kinds of issues just wondering how there competitor holds out against them
Ive had two main problems with my K2 and both were caused by me by not being careful enough in reassembling the CFS, and the other was in reassembling extruder after clearing blockages. I found Creality responsive and very willing to help solve these issues at no charge to me even though it as my fault.
My second printer is an enclosed 5 year old CR10S pro with a custom built high temp heat bed and built in filtration and I do find it very useful. It doesnt get used that much and use it mainly for PETG and TPU.
I like the idea of having the same second printer to reduce the need for spar parts.
It seems like whoever has issues with their printer is operator error. Also I think if you buy your machine from a reputable source it’ll go a long way with service as well.
True ! And from what I’ve seen recently, most errors are also due to a very bad shipping (Mostly FedEx
)
Externally, it’s robust but it can do some pretty big damages internally ![]()
When I was on fw 1.1.2.6 that plus lack of z-offset, caused no end of “issues” some user related (sadly trusted the Creality slicer z-offset software feature), but many FW releases later it’s “almost” reliable.. the occasional axis issues (even on beta FW) but it’s come a long way in 2025 from the fail to complete prints it was at the start.
To the point I often remotely start up and cloud slice/print, and have usable working parts printed when I get home.
That said it’s not perfect, but better and faster prints than my old ender series, are other brands better, who knows, but all machines will need maintenance and “some” user tuning..
It’s not only Creality that has issue with shippers. A friend recently ordered a FF printer and received a message saying it was delivered except it didn’t arrive. To cut a long story short 5 days later he found it had been delivered to the house across the street and left in the rain for 24 hours. Water had penetrated several holes in the plastic cover and turned the bottom of the box to mush. He was able to get a new one fairly quickly.
I’m running my printer offline, right now it’s working great. Would it be a good idea sticking with current firmware? If it works don’t touch it right??? ![]()
