Just bought a K1 max and it printed a benchy largely well out of the box using creality print v5.
However there was a little room for improvement and this was using the generic PETG profile, I then discovered that the newer v7 had the profile for Hyper PETG which is the filament im using.
I had been going through the calibration process in v5 prior to switching to v7, but it actually made things worse with quality when adjusting the profile, so i started over after updating to v7 and began the process once more in v7, however this time ive ran into problems while performing the first step of flow rate.
The first pass for roughly tuning the flow rate went flawlessley and printed pretty perfect with the majority of the samples, i ended up settling on -15 which also was what I went with when performing this in v5.
However, after performing the second pass for fine tuning, all the samples printed have little to no adhesion between the first 2 layers, the first layer on all of them also does not appear to have extruded as much on the bed and has some gaps between the lines, I will post some photos here, but I dont know how well they will show.
They adhered to the bed OK, with parts of the first layer being left behind, but unsure why the second pass is like this when the first test print was fine.
On v5, i went with -7 on this second pass, but in v7, none of them are acceptable.
Any ideas? I might do this test again in v7 with the default generic petg profile, Im not sure yet if its the software or the profile to blame, but in theory i should be better off using the correct filament profile shouldn’t I?
Ive left the filament to dry overnight, but made no difference on these tests.
Here is -15 on the first pass
Benchy printed in v7 with hyper petg profile, looks possibly over extruded around the cabin. Bed extrusion appears a bit less too, has some gaps and not quite as smooth in appearance. Overall its still pretty good for petg with no tuning performed.
Same benchy printed in v7 but showing some of the ghosting at the back
First benchy printed in default profile in v5, largely ok, but slightly over extruded on the outer top edge
Sample of layer separation on second pass, all were like this.
Edit:
Have performed this calibration with the CR PETG profile and they print normally.
The broke trying to remove but are solid.
These ones are -6 to -9
