U.S. repair/warranty shop (and local parts)?

I’ve been working with Creality Support for about 2-1/2 months now trying to fix the defective K2 Plus I bought in April. It started with defective screw mount brackets for the bed (3 of 4 were broken upon arrival), and has now worked into new z-axis motors and a potentially broken photosensor (or two…). Each iterative problem takes about 2-3 weeks to work with support, get parts, install, and troubleshoot. I’m getting to the point where it’ll either be a boat anchor or if I’m lucky, finding a U.S.-based repair shop that carries parts and can look into it for repairs (and if I’m real lucky, still covered under warranty…). It’s a long-shot, but does anyone know of such a place in the U.S., and even better, in Kentucky or Tennessee?

Ask if they are willing to swap out the unit – ie, you send it back, and they send you a replacement. It sounds like they had a production line QC issue, and sometimes it is better to just replace it and have the in-house staff look at what all went wrong… Just a thought.

Anyway, if you get no love from Creality Support and expect to turn it into a boat anchor, first try reaching out to the MakereSapces and HackerSpaces in your area (see: https://makerspace.com/map/ and Hackerspaces | Hackaday.io for an incomplete list). MS/HS folks are typically very helpful with such things. Also ask your local public libraries of they know anyone that could help. Some libraries have some AMAZING toys and skills. If that does not work, I can see if I can lend some help, but it would probably come the next time I am driving through your neck of the woods to go visit my wife at her duty station in Louisiana (I’m in the DC area). If that is needed, it will probably be a few months (unless she is RIF’ed in the expected upcoming purge of federal scientists, and then I’ll probably need to just boogie). Anyway, send me a PM and I will see if I can help you troubleshoot it remotely, and if something more needs to be done.

BTW, I do not work for Creality, nor am I affiliated with them at this time. I’m just a fix-it-guy that tries to be helpful from time to time. I also know how frustrating Creality’s support can be – it took me over a year of periodically poking at the Falcon-2 before I figured out the USB-C Power Distribution issue and its workaround, and now I am dealing with the next issue… …

Thank-you ebojd. I will check out both of those - I did find a Matterhackers in California that offered repair services. But it’s good to know about the other two organizations.

I’m usually good with “rolling up the sleeves” to work on fixes (at some point, these machines break down), but for a new machine, I’ll admit my patience is wearing thin. They indicated I may have damaged the photoelectric sensors for the z-axis, but that crazy thumping sound was there after I replaced the screw mount brackets (which is nowhere near where those switches are…). I’ll keep pressing forward, but keeping the Makerspace and Hackerspaces in the back pocket…

Thanks again,
Bryan
