Just ordered an Ender 3V3 Plus with the Nebula camera. Now I saw in some YouTube videos, that the machine has just one port. I assume that the firmware can handle USB hubs so that I connect both camera and USB stick with an USB Hub to the printer, or are there any problems?
Why do you need a stick? You can send the print files from the PC directly to the printer via the network.
That sounds interesting. So the printer offers a web interface to upload or do I need Software like Creality Print? The later is a problem, because Creality is only offering a buggy and outdated version of it for Linux. But if I can use another good slicer and then upload the gcode files to a web interface provided by the printer, then I’m satisfied. Sorry for asking those stupid questions, but my last 3D printer just used a micro SD card for transfering the files.
I just bought 2, Ender 3V3 Plus printers. LOVE THEM!
I bought the camera and wondered the same thing.
I had a mini hub laying around for years.
So, I plugged that into the printer’s USB port, plugged in the USB Key that came with the printer AND connected the camera!
It all works!
What I haven’t tried yet, but may later on, is to see Creality Print can “see” and handle 2 cameras on the same printer.
I does handle the 2 different printers, on different IP addresses and shows the camera for each.
But it would be cool if the software could handle 2 cameras and provide 2 views at once for one printer.
I think that would increase sales.
The only thing I don’t like with these cameras is that they don’t have sound.
In my lab, that’s not a huge deal because I have 2, PTZ cameras, at different angles, that both handle sound. I use an app to monitor them when away from home and just use the old Windows IE browser when at home.
On that, I don’t know about before, but now, Creality Print works beautifully on Windows 10. I don’t get crashes at all.
The ONLY thing that I notice as a “bug” is that something, it seems like it was supposed to pop something up, which takes focus, but of course, you can’t click on the main CrealPrint window. You get a beep.
But there is nothing visibly popped up.
In that rare case, I do have to End Task.
But it doesn’t happen often and Ending Task and relaunching just works.
I tried Orca, but that thing just crashes constantly.
Now that I’m used to Creality Print, I see no reason to use anything else
It just works. I always send my print jobs to whichever printer I like, over the network. It just works!
And once the printer starts, I can monitor and control it while in Creality Print.
I really like it now that I’m getting used to how it works.
These really are the best 3D printers I’ve ever owned!
The prints are just gorgeous and trouble-free.
Well, unless one tries to print PETG that is not dry! ROFL
It’s amazing how gorgeous PETG is when it’s dry, however.
I also printed using a lovely rainbow Silk that I just bought and this was the WOW factor!
I printed at super fine, in vase mode.
It printed FAST and I can’t see or even feel the layer lines! It’s that fine!
I tried that with a simple 1 > 2 USB splitter but would not read the USB drive. Camera was a but sluggish. Wasn’t sure if it was not possible, or if it needed to be a powered USB hub to work. Came to the forum to search and found this post. Will have to dig though my stuff to see if I have an extra powered hub around to test.
I normally am connected to VPN for work and their configurations do not permit access to the local network IP’s. I had to connect my normal printer via USB for when I am on VPN instead of network printing, and have to use the USB to transfer files to the E3V3+ (been avoiding the cloud due to traffic capacity issues lately). I have been using CrealityPrint since getting this machine- with my E3V2Pro been using Cura and SD card for file transfer.
Thanks
Welcome to the community, Thomas.
Ok, so here’s some info after using this setup for a while. I do use (well, DID use) an old, USB 2 hub. It probably won’t work with a USB 3 hub as it may not switch properly when not connected to a proper computer.
So here’s the thing, while it does work, what I noticed is that sometimes it would just disconnect. Mostly, it was the camera that lost connection, so I’d have to go to the machine, unplug the hub, unplug the camera and the USB stick, then, plug in the camera first, then the stick. Then it would work again.
Mind you, I use CrealityPrint 5.1.4.10249 (I won’t go to the next version due to issues that I won’t go into right now).
When I got the machines, I considered going to Cura with the mods to make it work with Klipper, but I got so used to CP5.1.4 and really like it, AND get amazing prints, that I decided not to.
So I have no clue if using Cura causes any issues.
Come to think of it, if you have CP5.1.4 already installed on your machine, why not test your hub with that, just to be sure?
Again, though, make sure it’s a USB 2 and not 3.
As for powering it, in my case, this really old, tiny hub handles the USB key and camera without external power. Perhaps different hubs react differently…
Oh, I forgot to mentino too, that even with just the camera connected directly to the printer, I find that sometimes, CP5 doesn’t “see” it.
All I have to do in CP5 is X out the network and click on the printer again and the camera appears.
Hope that helps.
