Use of Ender3 V3 in LAN mode

I need some advice on the use of my Ender 3 V3 printer.

I have used it for some time now quite successfully, but have been away from it for a while and am having difficulty in getting it to operate in LAN mode.

I am successful with the USB printing technique but not the LAN technique.

My set-up is a laptop running Windows 11, Creality Print ver 6.1.1.2277, firmware version is not known (not sure how to find it), and Creality PLA filament.

When I open the print software and import a STL file, then make changes if necessary, I then press the green button Slice Plate, then when complete I press Send print. A new screen is generated labeled Send to LAN printer. There are a number of menu boxes within this screen.

The menu that contains my problem is the Local Network symbol has a line through it and says “offline”.

My question is how do I change this to “Online* thus enabling it to print over my network?

Thanks,

Bob

PS I have a screen grab, but do not know how to attach to this message. I can email if needed.

Heya, sounds like it’s worth checking whether your printer is connected to your WiFi network, and the same one that your Windows laptop is connected to. On your V3 touchscreen if you go to the settings option (the cog on the left hand side) and then the Network tab along the top, do you see a WiFi network with a green tick next to it and an IP address below?

Under the same settings option, if you click on System at the top then scroll down you should see the firmware version if you click the About option at the bottom of the list. (Mine is 1.2.3.28)

If you see an IP Address on your printer then you should be able to add or update the printer in Creality Print. I hope that’s possible, I’m using Creality Print v5.1.7.10514 as I couldn’t get v6.anything to work properly for me. I’d start by verifying your printer is connected to the WiFi before trying to troubleshoot why Creality Print can’t find it. Hope this helps…

Hi agarthetiger,
I am having no success in getting my Ender 3V3 to operate in LAN mode despite having success earlier.

I think I might have trouble with IP number. I had a problem months ago ib attempting to get a printer working that required the use of 2g and 5 g. I ended up having to set up two networks, eagle and eagle-2 with the help of my service provider. I am working to delete the eagle-2g network so I have only one network.

I will update if I have any success.

That might explain it. If your computer is on a different WiFi network from your 3D printer, even if it’s from the same WiFi Router, you may not be able to connect to it.

Also, I don’t know if you meant to write that you were deleting the 2g network, as in the 2.4GHz Wifi network? My Ender 3 V3 only picks up my 2.4GHz WiFi networks, not my 5GHz networks. If your other printer needs to be on 5g only then you’ll have to keep both networks and change which one your computer is connected to, depending on which device you want to use.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I have spent a pile of time and think I have things working now!

As noted I had 2 networks, created by my service provider to help me run a new laser printer that didn’t run on the 5G network. This left me with 2 networks, Eagle and Eagle-2. The laser printer never did work correctly. Not sure I understand it all.

But I fiddled around and finally was able to hide my Eagle network and connect it so both my laptop and Ender 3V3 were able to see only the Eagle-2 network.

I would like to be able to remove the Eagle network from windows on my laptop but but If I do I can’t get it to delete so, I will just keep the three Eagle/eagle-2 network appearances for now. The important thing was to get the LAN convenience working in my shop again.
