Using 3D printing for diy robots

I have no issues with my printer, it works fine! I am just interested to find other people who like to use their printers to make diy robots using Arduino or Raspberry Pi. I have made several small, simple robots, but am always looking for the next project. I am not very good at coding, use AI for that, but am slowly learning. I would love to exchange ideas with any other makers out there!

@dspiller Welcome to the forum. I have an interest in robotics, but haven’t worked my way up the learning curve yet. I started a Watney, but never finished. I’m easily distracted.

I looked that up, not much info. Have you looked at PIB or Youbionic?

No, but the Youbionic series looks fascinating. My first goal is a point-of-presence that runs in WiFi control. Basically a wifi car with camera, microphone and speaker. The goal is something I can chase random woodland creatures off the porch. I don’t mind if they hang in the yard, but skunks, racoons, and coyotes are not welcome on the back porch.
I figure with Watney, I can chase them off and at them yell if needed. It is a simple project i should have finished years ago. I moved about 3/4 through assembly and haven’t opened the box back up
Are you building PIB or Youbionic? I could use some inspiration.

I have built parts of both, basically just the heads. Currently working on using the Youbionic head to build an animatronic robot head that will use servos and onboard AI on a Raspberry Pi to simulate an interactive talking robot. BTW, where are you located? I am in Waterloo, ON, Canada.

I’m near Los Angeles, CA. Ultimately, my goal is to incorporate some AI for image recognition. Basically, I’l like the bot to guard the food we put out for stray cats, but chase off Coyotes, racoons, possums, and skunks. Strangely, the skunks do not smell as bad as the possums. The skunks are oddly well behaved. go figure.
Are you planning to incorporate image recognition in your Yubonic? From what I read, the PIB seems to be more AI/Human interactive oriented. Are you pulling parts of the PIB design into your Youbionic head?

Well, right now I’m working on the Youbionic head to make it interactive with servos and local AI. The PIB head would work for what you’re trying to do as it has a built in spot for a camera.
