Vertical line on a print

What is causing this vertical line on my prints?

I recently noticed the Y-axis belt was twisted, so I fixed that and tensioned both X and Y belts afterwards. I did not have this problem before, so I suspect they are related.

Belts too tight?

Isn’t that just the seam? Where the bead starts and stops. Some slicers you can hide it, but not very successfully.

A previous print, same file, same printer, didn’t have that line before I fixed the twisted Y-axis belt and adjusted the tension on both X and Y belts.

Ändere einfach die Spannung und schaue ob es besser oder schlechter wird.

Well, the belts didn’t have anything to do with this.

It appears I’m dealing with the Z-seam, which I hadn’t heard of before. I don’t know why the print I did a week or so ago didn’t have this line. But I’m learning that extruder steps/mm and temperature have a say in this.

I don’t know what my e-steps/mm were, but it is now at 99.1, which draws a measured 100mm of filament. The heat was probably at 195 (I’m using PLA) but recently I changed it to 200. So I’m re-trying it at 195 right now.

I’m a total newby when it comes to 3d printing. I bought the printer used about two years ago. A month ago I decided to either learn how to use it, or sell it.

In the time between getting it and one month ago, I managed to successfully print exactly nothing, out of 4 or 5 attempts.

About a month ago I upgraded from the 8-bit 1.4.4 main board to the 32-bit 4.2.2 board, and added a CR-touch auto leveling kit. Once I did those two upgrades, most of my prints are turning out pretty good.

Finally got it. It wasn’t the belts or the temperature, it was the Z-seam.

I found some settings in Cura for that. I didn’t change any between the good print a week or so ago and now, but I have changed other things in Cura, so maybe somehow I overwrote a previously good file.

Or who knows, but it’s fixed and that’s all that matters.
