I have big problems with print quality on my new Ender 5 Max since the beginning.
My old Ender 5 Plus and other Ender 5 Max printers are fine, but this particular one is really bad.
What I tried:
- tensioning/loosening the belts
- replacing the extruder wheels with new ones (the original ball bearings were totally blocked)
- different hotend
- different filament (PLA)
- Creality and Orca slicers
- low speed (max 50 mms), low acceleration (max 2000), low flow (max 5 mm3)
- different temperatures
- several factory resets and new calibrations
- head/nozzle is tight and without any play
The result is still the same.
I found several users on the internet with the exact same problem on this printer, but they never wrote what they finally figured out. If at all.
Honestly, it looks like a belt issue but since you adjusted the tension…It’s weird !
By the way, since you “replacedthe extruder wheels with new ones (the original ball bearings were totally blocked)”, did you do an extruder calibration ?
Yes, new gears are the same, only better surface. I did all calibrations few times.
Have to be honest then..I’m a bit lost
Since you have another ender 5 Max, I guess the settings in the slicer are correct…so I don’t really know ?
Maybe the fan of the hotend then ? If it doesn’t cool it correctly, it could allow heat creep
So I’m having a similar issue with a basically brand new Ender 5 Max. It was printing fine until a clog, and after that it started having the same kind of issues. Belt tightening does nothing. But what i did find is the movement of the X and Y axis are not consistent across the whole bed, also the belts tend to move to the top and bottom of the idle pulleys depending on where the hot end is placed. My current best guess is that the whole printer is not squared. I am actively investigating, But overall i’m sad that Bambu doesn’t make a printer of this size, the second i buy a product with the name “Creality” on it, I have issues.

same here..i have done everything.i have uneven layers like you…not too much but i have
Same problem with new Ender 5 MAX. Left cube with default Jerks(XY), right cube with jerks set to 25. Creality slicer, PLA.
Looks like i solve it for me. I lubricated all the bearings in the pulleys with grease similar to WD-40.
Print going well with default jerks.
Try to turn off your heating bed during print. It is the issue on my printer but Creality support do not want to adress it….
I just couldn’t solve it with one printer, another Ender 5 Max prints very satisfactorily. I plan to take the whole thing apart and check it out and maybe flash it so I can use Klipper tools to find out the cause. Has anyone flashed an Ender 5 Max?
