I currently work with the printer in my bedroom. Sometimes I’d like to run prints at night (especially for 17+ hour prints).
But after turning on quiet mode, the printer is significantly louder than at standard print speed; I can hear the motors whining. Could this be an input shaping issue?
change the mode ON THE CREALITY PRINT DEVICE TAB, changing it on the printer screen had a bug on firmware which creality do not want to correct.
if you change it on the creality print, all works as intended, but if you change the mode on the printer’s screen IT WILL ALWAYS TURN THE PIECE FAN TO 150% making all super louder.
Hello @IMPI9 ![]()
Welcome to the Creality Forum…! ![]()
On our Creality K2 Pro it gets a lot quieter when adjusting the on-screen speed setting to “50%” or selecting “Stable” mode. These settings reduce overall motion speed and acceleration, which typically lowers mechanical and motor-related noise. The fans will still keep the same speed though.
I researched a little online and found a few possible reasons. I’m not sure how accurate they are, but they might be worth checking:
Stepper motor resonance: At certain lower speeds, stepper motors can enter resonance ranges that produce audible humming or whining. This can occur even when the overall motion is slower.
Fan curve behavior: Some firmware profiles maintain constant fan speeds regardless of print speed. If fans are running at high RPM while motion is reduced, the relative noise may seem more pronounced.
Acceleration and jerk settings: Even at reduced speed percentages, aggressive acceleration or jerk parameters can cause abrupt movements that generate vibration and noise.
Interesting observations. I think it’s worth checking the motor resonance, but it still seems like a PID issue. At normal print speeds, the motors are significantly quieter than with the silent mod enabled.
