hello everyone
I am currently making painting masks for models on a vinyl cutter but I wanted to cut really small letters that a cutter with a blade cannot do. So my next option is to acquire a laser cutter. But before that I wanted to make sure that it can process the main material that I am using. Washi tape sheets mainly from Tamiya and oracal 810 masking vinyl. Has anyone use these materials and knows if they are compatible?
For my part, it’s the first time I hear about these materials.
Make sure to verify what fumes will come out when they are laser cut.
I know that vinyl sheets, which are common for vinyl cutters, will make poisonous gas when you burn them. These gases are also abrasives and will degrade the laser, the frame, etc… of your unit.
Thanks for the reply. Washi tape is a type of Japanese paper painters tape but specialised for model making. Seeing that falcon can cut paper I believe that it will be able to process it. For the vinyl I am not so sure but since it’s can cut PVC and acrylics I have some hopes. Thanks for the advice on the fumes if I get a falcon in the end I ll make sure I have a good suction and ventilation system.
