Started giving me rough top surfaces this morning. Never seen anything like this in 1 1/2 years of use.
K1C, 7.1 software, firmware never updated, using factory settings of 0.2mm with an almost new 0.4 nozzle.
Decided to test by printing a simple 5cmx5cmx5mm disc.
Clean print plate with a very light coating of glue. Check this out -
Hello. Please check the filament feed mechanism; the teeth on the drive gears might be worn down. Removing the feeder is simple: unscrew the three screws, take out the feeder unit, split it into two halves, and inspect the gears. Clean out the grooves or replace the gears if they are damaged, and check the condition of the bearings on the drive gears (this requires disassembly). Interestingly enough that worked (thank you!).
About three months ago I swapped out the factory gears for all-metal gears I bought from amazon, having heard good reports about metal gears here and elsewhere.
When I opened up the extruder yesterday, I found that the gears seemed okay, but there was a quantity of some very fine dust-like particles on the gears and in the recess of the gear housing.
So I cleaned out the gear housing, put the plastic gears back in, problem instantly cured.
Go figure…….and thanks again.
