What settings for best top layer

Hi there I’m quite new to all of this and I’ve had significant problems with my printer constantly changing its bed levelling data by itself (apparently I have a printer ghost)… Replaced the CR-touch but it did not resolve anything. I’ve finally managed to get everything on point by manually levelling it with paper but then somehow my settings changed in both Creality Print and Cura and I can’t get my settings back to what they were when I had great top layers a few days ago

. Can anybody please help me to work out what settings I need to rework to get the great top layer shown here instead of the rubbish top layer with the triangle design?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The triangle design looks like Concentric has been picked. Either zig-zag or lines would be better. You could try ironing also but this can leave a ragged periphery as the nozzle essentially smears the top layer.

The top ‘bad’ version was actually using the ironing setting. I’d prefer the smoother finish of ironing but if that won’t work then I’m happy to run with a textured top as long as it’s flat and doesn’t have any rippling or imperfections. So trying to run with the textured top this is the problem I get where both Creality Print and Cura both want to divide up the top layer of the print and it ends up with lines that effectively divide it up into sections but I want the top layer to be one unbroken layer.

Can anybody help me figure out what the hell is going on here please? I’ve literally tried everything I can think of, changed every setting and followed every tutorial I could get hold of that seemed relevant but clearly I’m missing something.

I want to do this print but with text but there’s no point placing text on top of this layer if it keeps putting those yellow dividing lines in the top layer. To be clear, the top and bottom layer are completely flat and not broken and there is no ‘uneven’ aspect to this print. It doesn’t matter whether I used zig zag, monotopic or rectilinear… it never changes those yellow dividing lines.

Thanks

I appreciate that people aren’t just here to answer my noob questions so could I also ask this though, what other 3D printing forums are very active? I’m really looking for a forum that I can post dumb questions on and receive helpful responses on fairly quickly and consistently? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i’m not sure I’ll get the answers I need on here based on my experience so far (that’s not a whinge; I’m just running short on a solution for a time sensitive project).

Thank you

There is a Creality usergroup on facebook that is quite active that I often use. Perhaps there is usergroup on there for questions like this too?

This vid haas some interesting info on top layers-about half way through…might help. The guy has some good info on his other vids on tuning Creality Slicer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeMz0NA9_Mo
