I’ve ordered some 95A TPU which the i7 TPU wiki says should not be fed through the CFS mini/lite, but directly and use the spool holder. I can’t find anywhere online that sells the spool holder separately, that it’s only available with the printer. Is there any reason I can’t, as the guide says, just cut a length of PTFE tube, mount the TPU roll on the CFS mini arm (NOT feed it through the mini) and then directly into the extruder? Or is there something special the little nozzle does on the spool holder that the filament needs to run through that?
BambuLab makes a nearly identical spool holder, but from what I have read, the measurements are a little different and it won’t mount to the top of the i7.
I ordered the “autofill combo” with the CFS mini, a two spool capacity intended to have the same color filament so that when one runs out, it will stop, and load the other spool. I didn’t realize that was the intent but it work as I printed something that ran out of the original sample filament and it loaded up from the second spool to complete the job.
I figured I would just use this to hold my spool of TPU and run directly into the extruder through a short PTFE tube but wasn’t sure if that little guide on the spool holder really did anything other than keep the filament from moving around too much after it’s spun off the spool before it goes into the extruder.
oh and as a first time owner of a 3d printer, I am still getting used to the fact that if I need something, I can just print it LOL rather than buy it…. still experimenting with it…
