Why does the Benchy on the Ender 3 V3 print faster than one from Creality Print?

I’m new to 3D printing and just bought an Ender 3 V3 (regular).

The Benchy that’s in the printer from the factory prints in about 17 min. However, if I load the file “3DBenchy by CREATIVE TOOLS.stl” that’s on the provided USB into Creality Print the estimated print time with a .20 mm layer is over 38 minutes.

If I look (in Creality Print’s Device page) at the in-printer Benchy’s STL file it says it’ll use about 3.5 meters of filament. The predicted filament length when I slice the STL is about the same.

Is the predicted print time off by a factor of two, or is the in-printer G-code twice as efficient as what Creality Print is producing? Or…

Thanks.

Hello @Visor …!

Welcome to the Creality Forum…! Creality

I’m guessing that part of the reason is the layer is .24 mm with some higher speed settings mixed in for the factory print.

You could experiment with your slicer settings to see how you could speed it up a little. It would also be a good way to get familiar with how the slicer settings work and how they affect the prints… :grinning:
