I do not understand how the software can be so lacking in one of the most critical area, presets and filament profile exchange.
The software developers continues to force people into using what they determine are optimum settings rather than using a common standard such as JSON files to allow the easy exchange of setting files for both printers and filaments. Some simple steps would make working with the printers so much more enjoyable:
- Have a configurable location for printer config files, and another for filament profiles.
- Allow users to add and remove files from the folder (either directly from their OS or via an import/export function).
- Even allow backups of the folders.
- Retain files in the folders between version upgrades.
- Read the configs and profiles from the folders.
- optional - Establish an open source exchange for the printer and filament profiles. Creality Print is based off of an open source platform, and yet it operates in a closed source manner when it comes to these configs and profiles.
It would be even better yet if Creality had profile files then for each of their series of filaments.
All of this could help save untold amount of time and waisted filament running calibrations. Especially when a new version of the software is deployed and you loose the prior calibration edits you have done to your profiles.
