I am trying to run an Ender 3 S1 Pro with a Sonic Pad and having problems with the Z offset. If I set the Z offset to a positive number, I get a configurations error, if I give it a -.05 no error message, but it will scratch the bed during printing. Suggestions?
Are you able to set it to 0 or is that too high?
Good thought I’ll give it a try. I was able to deal with a Z offset pretty easily in Marlin on the original machine, but the sonic pad seems to be a horse of another color.
I have had issues with Klipper in my v3 SE, so I have just switched back and it has worked better.
No the 0 Z offset gives me the error message as well. I am getting a bit frustrated with the sonic pad, I’m hoping it’s just a learning curve issue, but for now I am losing a lot of print time with the machine shut down.
Are you able to go between 0 and 0.05?
No, nothing positive only negative.
This is the z offset in the printer.cfg file on my sonic Pad connected to an Ender3 S1 Pro.
Sometimes I adjust it manually by ± 0.1 for different filaments.
Do you follow the Z probe calibration steps from the sonic pad setup screen?
Bill
Hi Bill,
When I go through the leveling process I go through the machine link to the Z probe calibration and that always ends up with the offset between +10 and +6 which gives me a calibration error. I have not yet accessed the Sonic pad via my iMac. I need a new router and we are getting a new Internet service in the neighborhood thus I’m not going to buy a new one until I know what they require. So, I don’t know how to get into the configuration file. I don’t understand why the Z calibration function would come up with a calibration that would be an error for Klipper or the hardware.
I did create a support ticket with Creality and we will see what they say.

May I ask why you set the Z offset? to solve what problem?
