Hi, I have just joined and I have had a Ender 3 3V SE since January. I love it and after sorting my Z off-set, it has been printing great. Until today.
I printed 3 small items and they printed great. Now it will not print anything at all.
First problem is the nozzle seems too high (I have not updated any firmware on printer or slicers).
Now when I try top level the bed, the auto level pin does not come out, it goes through some motions and the auto level pin will drop down a couple of times. It does not do the 16 point levelling and after a while of moving to the front left corner of hte plate and back to the centre, it will home set and ask for conformation or edit but there is nothing in the screen to edit.
I have reset to factory via the install reset and save the configuration. Still the same happens when trying to level the bed.
I tried to print the same item using Cura slicer, Prusa slicer and Orca slicer and it keeps doing hte same thing. High nozzle, about 1.5 inches off the bed, goes to wipe the nozzle, no filament comes out, goes to the centre and waits for the temps to rise on nozzle and bed. Then the Z axis moves to the left into the finish position and the screen asks to confirm as if it has printed the item.
I have tried lowering the Z axis, but I have noty nudged it or altered it, tried auto bel levelling a few times and it doesnt happen. It came up with “auto bed level failed” once.
Connections are all ok.
I have tried to print using different slicers in case one of my slicers had an update that messed up the G-code settings, Had it before when I updates Ctura and it would not print until I reinstalled hte cura 5.6.0 back and it was happy with that setting.
I am stuck with what is causing these problems. I hope someone can help me out please.
Thanks Ian
Solved. I finally found a way to get my printer printing again. I removed the base plate and brushed any dust from the plate and under the body of the printer. Then I removed the build plate and dusted under it and pressed the sensor board plugs in to make sure they were seated and dusted it, then checked the wire connections by pressing them and rebuilt the printer. I then tried the bed leveling and it worked and I reset my Z off-set. It came up as -1.55 but it is a lot better at -1.63. -1.55 was gappy and not stook together. To set the Z off-set, I had designed a large square on tinkercad and started printing it. The first layer I watch and get ready with the Z off-set tuning and go down one step at a time after about 10 passes of the first layer. I went down to -1,66 and from -1,65 it started having ripples. So I tuned it back to what I saw as the smoothese at -1.63. It works great now.
