Best fast cheap filament to use

I need to know what the best fast cheap filament to use

Hello jado163,

My preferred filament brand is eSun (Amazon among others sell it) or Sunlu but I have less choices with that brand here.

If you are starting out, it is important to know that one of the biggest problems regards 3D printing comes from non dried filament.

Humidity can effect filament enough to cause many problems. Therefore, if you don’t already have one, consider getting a filament drier.

Cheers.

Hi @Radical_Data thank you for getting back so quickly. Also do you think this filament will be any good? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B6RDC6X2/?coliid=IP6LKRPKW4MZ9&colid=1XS8I975LL87X&ref_=list_c_wl_gv_ov_lig_pi_dp&th=1 or this? https://www.amazon.com.au/OVERTURE-Filament-Cardboard-Dimensional-Accuracy/dp/B0C9T9M69R/ref=sr_1_7?adgrpid=129852572336&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.AbnXQo1tBE1QqHJgEP6NUiBMfo39UxgVirgtNqdOjF6rEea3gxmCNnecwopC0DicXVhRyYQVEXSYWbd6gVdBELjppbE8lX3Jx9FOjFlAuSnLBg2Uq7mSDPyT7_qNIsog7UfBGwR8RFBQYxjM15X7aw5SqGOHXKR6V99KGMmEbjMo_J6t5SyRx0XKZROOZ1x9Mb64cllcBNqxtaqjOGSiEpTpZGdPJlKilGJg7DGPgL77jZWGzXrlD-aga3qE4uo6G0HKM_LkFQmhziTSA5Rbms3CMvnuA0fghMdXcNL1cAvLzbxKd2JgfrZcD50yAiFmxCpH_83Y93IW33yRKrgIIogUG2Oq-fe3v1lk2VVZKU55FlYGpNhGC8nayXHbZiq1iJc5lXIW_fNTokVtQzSKpTYivgZuk7BQNDsg89NLBP0___gO3JkVJQJBqcLooOtL.tcM7buUY-1cJT8euc0L5V1-r_Y5v7ALYzC-JMTfsLXs&dib_tag=se&hvadid=591014517975&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9070912&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9988436455694402084&hvtargid=kwd-302123198155&hydadcr=7443_353638&keywords=filament%2Bglow%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bdark&mcid=d8634a9779d930b0a311e31300092483&qid=1742107288&sr=8-7&th=1

Hello jado163,

The first one “Voxelab ?” I have not heard of so don’t know.
Overture are a good brand, mind you, the Glow PLA Filament is abrasive and will chew away at your standard nozzle.

There are very many brands out there and no doubt many are quite good, but unless you want to print items that require specific criteria such as UV resistant/used outdoors/high strength/chemical tolerant/etc etc… then just go with eSun, they have a good range and are quite reliable and consistant.

Cheers

Hello @Radical_Data thank you so much for helping i will have a look into esun

@Radical_Data Would this be ok? https://www.amazon.com.au/Sovol-Filament-Co-Extrusion-Material-Dimensional/dp/B0C37H3J2F/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3DFL2IOLCKQU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.6WWEf18_YARP6kIXJR69PgQOx8RrYGb_ObyXeMYizfci_E3mxCIGQ3nRK59x78HDj6ajIEzjFWhph0ygn1QSXkViLeXlb9lvfAB_y9QS8vAmuq4JuJNvrMTRztwUcM6C_H83UZB-u-sMqrT-MKpnVBBP3gvA0e6Jl6z7qAT2l0HUpdIdBnmXdCL32xlhtA1Kn-mTgqoznQ7wJ86b5sGauOFLjflOCwkcDnUSXUZKkgLUP0Wa_m0el_BVE8Qj6DfpK9W6OwhwY6FDjhcmNB0Bpl62gSN551P_h1RQQ1l2imQZ7W6CsjvdbK5lH3eDZYPxFUQzXM2MC9Io3XWHkk-ZFoze46RQwqRhDeOY6Q1ZSbDc_T-FpHiaAYot3a3I3TJAfALJnUJt7IRLtS6jbyCAOG1og_WhCCEOux_9H7vaGu52znjJXgF9iFGlONl32iwD.fS6B56pQ1tOUCXKRlgD0XTstmgGISiBlWeIV97jyoCc&dib_tag=se&keywords=esun%2Bfilament%2Bmulticolour&qid=1742110688&sprefix=filament%2Besun%2Bmulti%2Caps%2C259&sr=8-7&th=1

Hello jado163,

Again, I don’t know that brand but have used something similar colour wise by eSun and printed that same dragon and was quite happy with it.
Try a spool of it and see how you like it.

Remember, if you try a multi colour filament, it may be great for one item you print, but do you wish for “everything” to look the same colours?
You would be best to get another colour also for things you print and expand from there.

Cheers.

@Radical_Data Do you mean something like this? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D6GD42KV/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?pd_rd_i=B0D6GBTMGC&pd_rd_w=ZgTIh&content-id=amzn1.sym.1466049c-a1d9-4b3d-b57f-ad4194b25db8&pf_rd_p=1466049c-a1d9-4b3d-b57f-ad4194b25db8&pf_rd_r=PM437VX67MWY116W6XTC&pd_rd_wg=pvo6e&pd_rd_r=830ad7ac-5af7-486a-91e0-852d8ec87541&s=office-products&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw&th=1

Yes, something like that.

Sunlu for me, 5 rolls for ÂŁ50 is pretty good price. Look on Aliexpress as well as Amazon, though I get my filament direct from Sunlu. That is for PLA/PETG for TPU I quite like Creality TPU or Pinuoto. I have a little grief with Overture.

@Radical_Data @Bonfireman Will this work in pla silk? MultiColour PLA Filament 1.75mm 1kg - 3D Printer Filaments

Hello jado163,

Looking at the picture of it, I would say it would… maybe 55deg bed temp and 200 nozzle temp for starters and play from there.
Best to use a temperature tower if it not coming out as it should, to get the best nozzle temperature.

Cheers.
P.S. Again, I have not used that brand.

@Radical_Data thank you so much i will get it and see what it is like

I tend to buy whatever is on sale or has a cool effect/color. Just know that some filaments will not print well fast like silks. I just ordered 11 rolls of “Ujoybio” to try their other colors, but black has printed pretty well from the 2 rolls I bought off amazon

ELEGOO RAPID PLA and RAPID PETG.

i used to use Overture, but had too many failures.
but with Elegoo Rapid filament, most issues are User Issues more than Filament issues.
