K2 Plus, boden tube will not stay in top of the extruder. I replaced the tube. New tube will not stay in top.
I took it apart and nothing is stuck in the top of it. It no longer locks the tube in place. I urgently need a new extruder housing, or what not.
I have to wait till March sometime for this part to be available and let the printer just sit there not in use?
I email other issues to Creality on Friday, Saturday and yesterday without even an acknowledgment of receiving my emails from them. They had their Monday already, correct?
This printer was sold before it was ready wasn’t it?
You will need to exchange the extruder shell with the insert for the tube.
Customer Service will send you one if they answer in 2-5 ‘working’ days.
Some other users glued some other tube holder on top of the shell to continue to print until they receive the spare part.
I used only spool holder and pushed the filament in manually in the meantime.
Please clean up also extruder shell before you continue to print! The reason is that the tube holder uses some small steel plates to hold the tube in place and if they are ‘lost’ (and that’s why the tube is not holding in anymore) this small peace of metal goes into extruder shell and in some cases (at least with me and one other colleague here) the magnet of the cutter picks it up and in some time the cutter may be blocked!
“the magnet of the cutter picks it up and in some time the cutter may be blocked!”
Yes, my cutter was block. I just experienced another jam where the filament could not be retracted. It is not being cut. So, I thought while I have it apart I’ll look at the cutter again.
How does that work? I put a piece of PLA through it and tried to cut the filament by hand and holy crap, that cutter does not want to cut PLA filament. I have the extrusion shell on my bench in front of me, not gears in it. Just manually trying to cut the filament. It like cutting it with a butter knife, and that’s the new one (cutter) that came with the printer.
Oh as far as the boden tube holder, there is a genius on here that designed a printable work around for it. Works perfect.
Still have not heard from support.
Again with the cutter, they must half to really slam the print head in to that plastic post to get it to cut!
I was able to fix this my self with the printer in the small box of extras there is a joiner. (Seen bellow) with this i removed the first peice that you normally push down on to remove the bowden by pulling up with pliers. The next step is removing the metal tangs this is a bit more difficult. On the side of the connector there are 2 small holes that you are able to see using a small flat head I widen the holes out then pushed on the under side of the ring until the fingers came out. If you are having trouble you can always cut the ring our carefully using a knife. The next step is the extruder shell to get the part you normally push on is the same step just use some pliers and pull up itll pop out. To get the metal ring out is a bit trickier as there are no through holes. I used a pair of wire cutters typically used for electrical work and just cut the old metal in half and rolled it to the inside. This then allowed me to pull it out. Then put your new metal tangs in. I then used a wood desk to seat it the rest of the way then push the peice you normally push on to remove the bowden reinstall and your good to go. This new ring feels even better than the old and releases easy too.
While waiting for Creality support (which could be a long wait) you can in fact order spares directly from Aliexpress. A new extruder housing is around £22 shipped to the UK. I know it sticks in the craw to be paying for parts that should be provided on warranty, but if you want the printer back working again within a week, this is the way to go. Then when you finally get the replacement from Crealiy, you have a spare for when it happens again
You can order some spares also directly from creality shop in Amazon, I bought there recently a CFS and an extruder shell for 15% below creality store price and with two days free delivery!
