I just bought an i7 with the CFS light combo. The CFS unit isn’t retracting the filament. I’m brand new to 3D printing and now realize that filament issues are common. So, you learn to be a printer tech quickly. It doesn’t seem to be a filament problem to me though because none of the 4 ports are retracting so I can’t change filament. To temporarily get around it I disconnected one of the tubes and connected the spool. When I did that, the printer would go thru the complete start up process and extrude filament but when the print job started, nothing came out. I took everything apart and cleared the jam. It’s printing again but I haven’t fixed the retraction issue. The filament that was broken off had not been used before I noticed it wasn’t retracting.
Is it ok to manually pull the filament back out of the CFS unit if I’ve completed the unload and retract procedures? I’ve read that can damage the machine. If so, how do I get the filament out without pulling the entire roll thru the tube?
I appreciate any suggestions and apologize if my questions are no brainers.
