Creality Ender 3 V3 SE dusty X-axis wheel

Hi everyone!
I’ve noticed that my printer, like many other users of this model, is experiencing dust buildup on the extruder guide wheel. It feels more like dust from material abrasion or the wheel’s coating. I’ve found many opinions online stating that this is normal because the wheels are breaking in and that all that’s needed is to wipe the dust off. Other opinions said it’s caused by pressing the wheel too hard and needing to be adjusted correctly. So my question is, which of these opinions is more accurate, and is there another solution? I’ll just add that this has been happening with my printer practically since new, and I’ve had it for about two years.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi

The POM wheels are almost designed to wear down over time, they are easily changed.

The wheel with the wear is on a cam and must be occasionally adjusted to keep just the right amount of tension, so the printhead does not move perpendicular to the rail. I would suggest you need to repalce.

The solution I used was to fit a “Linear Bearing” rail. this was relatively easy to fit and does away with the wheels and gives a longer lasting, more solid solution.

Thank you for your help.
