The V3SE doesn’t have network ability and the USB-C doesn’t connect to a PC as a USB device. You’ll need a raspberry Pi, Sonic Pad or a Nebula Pad for that sort of connection. Not sure what Cura is seeing.
Without connecting it to a Sonic pad, nebula pad or a raspberry pi the answer is yes. There is an unofficial firmware that may help you a little. Have a read to see if it might help
I don’t know if you connect through the USB-C for that, on my Sonic pad you take the screen connection and connect a serial to USB cable to connect the printer to the Sonic Pad. I should imagine the raspberry pi would connect in a similar fashion. The jog-dial screen becomes redundant, as does the SD card socket. Mr Brennand might be able to give advise on connecting it, Ive not had a raspberry pi myself.
It most certainly does work with the V3SE, but you do need the serial to USB cable, I think it comes with it. You select the printer on the Sonic pad and it will create a new Klipper firmware, connect the two and the printer gets flashed with the new firmware. My V3SE and my Ender 5 plus are both connected to it and are running daily, the Ender 5 plus has a really odd USB connection, but both get new firmware flashed to them. Downside is you can’t yet run 2 cameras on one, minor annoyance when I have 2 printers connected.
So, it looks like you are going to get one …
You will be happy you did (I have the same printer as you).
Over the time I was waiting for it to arrive, I checked a few places online to see how to install it when it arrived… I really didn’t need to though…
When it did arrive, I simply installed it exactly how the instructions said (slowly…no need to rush)
it installed and worked without any problem
Also, the Sonic pad had the required cable in the box… I have a spare now as I didn’t know it had one.
Or, connect with the USB-C and just use Cura, which is free and detects the V3SE easily. I’ve gone away from using Creality Print for this reason. I’ve had zero problems with this setup.
No control issues for me. Prints work just fine - better than with CP I think - and abort print works immediately. (Oops Oh Crap I left that other thing on the plate!!)
Keep in mind I am pretty new at this and only using PLA. TINAR, YMMV, ETC.
Also, Creality Print has been slower and slower to start up and seems to crash on exit. It just updated so I will give the lates version another try, but from other posters it seems clear that USB control of the V3SE from CP doesn’t work.
Buy a spare plate and swap it out after a print to prevent the Oh crap moment. Does orca see the printer, that would be a useful thing to know. My V3SE hasn’t been using marlin for a very long time.
I downloaded Orca this morning, but I can’t see how to set up a printer. When I click on ‘Device’ I get a short movie showing me how to set up devices and then a totally nonfunctional Device page.
So, can’t answer your question. If there is some step I’ve missed, let me know.
There is a little WiFi type connection button on the main page after that you can click on the various connection protocols, do any of those work? I have a feeling they don’t
Again, I’m new at this 3D printer stuff, but it seems to me Cura understands USB connected devices and Orca doesn’t. There was no option on the printer selection dialog that didn’t involve the network.
Creality Print doesn’t recognize USB, either. The only options there are Network or Sonic Pad.
