Creality Print version 6 "Problems"

Same problem here.

And while I’m on this forum why does everything in the program seem unnecessarily complicated? For example, it should be a very easy task within any slicer to choose the most basic elements of a print task: nozzle size, print temperature, print speed, infill, support y or no… but, my god, physically change your nozzle and you have to set up a whole separate printer preset where the filament choices you had on your previous preset are not carried over…

All these software developers could learn a thing or two from Cura. Maybe I’ll just switch back to THAT.

I have an Ender 3 V3 Plus and had to switch to Creality Print because there is no profile for my printer on other slicers. I started with 5.1 and it was amazing and very straightforward. It auto updated to 6 once when I launched it and then slicing took almost an hour for big prints (5.1 took maybe 5 minutes) and said that the print time would be something like 38 hours when 5.1 with the same settings took only 7.5 hours. V6 would not let me stay logged in to Creality Cloud. And had issues communicating with the printer itself. I uninstalled V6 and it left ghost pathways through my whole computer which I could not remove with any method, Even reinstallation did not work. I mean that when I clicked “open with” on an STL it showed only a greyed-out “C:/user/program files/creality print 6.0” or something close. when i selected new app and chose 5.1 it would just go back and highlight the broken greyed out V6.0. It caused me a bunch of hassle and now I have to reinstall windows because I set my computer to restore to a save point before I installed either slicer, but it failed when restoring the file registry that contained the broken pathways. Also, the support makes more sense in 5.1, the trees branch well and get all I need, but in v6 there is a tree for each point that needs support and missing some for points that overhang parts of the build. It also would crash or freeze at like 65% while slicing support layers.

Hello Aspen,

Have you got it sorted ok ?

I use a program called “AOMEI backupper”, the free version.
It is invaluable for situations like yours.
You will need a second drive to backup to “internal or external” don’t use a partition on your C: drive as it thrashes it going backwards and forwards when backing up or restoring.

To re install windows and set it up with all my programs I constantly use, along with drivers etc, etc, it takes a number of hours to do.
So, once it is all up and running, I do a backup of it.
It only takes minutes to restore it all if I need to, not hours

Cheers.

I will look into that, the IT team at my college here loaned me a laptop and is pulling the files and setting it up. On my PC, I would have done it myself but laptops are a bit more finicky in my experience. Thanks for the advice

Hello Aspen,

I am a bit pedantic about things I use and probably overboard to some people, but I am just cautious.
I use AOMEI backup for all my computers and laptops because I change or add programs from time to time on each of them.
For the laptops that don’t have a cd drive, I have made “via AOMEI” a bootable USB stick for the program.
The reason for the USB stick or CD with AOMEI backupper on it is incase you totally manage to screw up the windows operation system and cant boot in to it at all.

Cheers.

Hello Ian_Summerfield,

Just thought I would share with you that I have gone back to 5.1.6.1x as I was just wanting to slice something with complex textures and CP 5.1.7xx got to 15% and just hung there.
I tried it on my main computer with the same result (5.1.7.xx) so
I decided to try with Orca … no problem !
Un installed 5.1.7 and installed 5.1.6.1xx and it was fine … mind you, Orca was much faster with the slicing.

I may simply stick with Orca for now and forget Creality Print till I hear they have definately fixed what they presently have.

Cheers.

something Im noticing more and more is how complicated the initial layers are in a print, not the actual object, just the support or brim. thousands of tiny zigzags, and intricate lines, only to be overwritten,so wasted time and filament. Then more complicated stuff, only for that to get covered over. WHY? also the speed of this initial layer surely must wear out things a lot quicker ,than say just straight lines with corners…

The layout in v 5.1.7 was excellant, everything just worked, you could calibrate or not from the pc,and control everything. what was the reason for 6?

I just received my K1 and nothing but issues. Bed seems out of wack from this bed mesh but unsure. The 6.0 software is terrible. I’ve try to print asa and have the correct profiles and settings. I send to printer and start the print and its back to pla temps… no idea whats going on.

So, lets see how THIS iteration of version 6 goes .

Cheers.

New version still doesn’t like my V3KE it just says it is offline, which I know that it isn’t as I have access via web browser and Orca. I shall see if it can see my printers on the Sonic Pad tomorrow, I doubt it will as the Ender 5 plus is still not in the list (but it is in Orca!!)

I went back to version 5. The engineer who wrote version 6 should be fired!!

No still can’t see the sonic pad therefore can’t use it for my V3SE and Ender 5 plus, so I am sticking with Orca.

Now THAT is a good idea !

It’s probably an ex-microsoft programmer…

Hello to those reading …

So, I thought I would try the latest attempt (because it is just an attempt) at version 6.
Un installed version 5.1.6xx fully down to hidden files… installed latest of version 6.

Well … lookie, I can even install my Qidi Q1Pro as well as my Ender 3 V3SE … wow, looks like they might be on to something, cool.

That is as far as the good feelings went. I created filaments for the Ender and selected one …ok.
I then switched printer to the Qidi and created some filaments for it and selected one … ok.

I then switched back to the Ender printer and the filament had changed back to generic.
Changed to the Qidi and the filament had changed to generic.

What a waste of time.

Looks like I will only use version 5.1.6xxx as it at least is stable for the V3SE and I will use Qidi slicer for the Q1Pro as it is good.

Cheers all.

Strange that you can see your V3SE but I can’t see mine, they are both connected to sonic pads so if it works for you it should for me or is it that I have an Ender 5 plus attached to it too. Its not like it asks for port numbers.

Hello @Bonfireman ,

I have seen that before and wondered about it also. I just don’t know.
There is a possibility that it is a program that you run but I don’t. It using some .dll or something similar that interrupts or blocks a process required.
What ever it is, it would be way above me to work it out.
I am sure there are others with the same problem and no answer.

Cheers.

Creality Print hasn’t been compatible with the Ender-3 Max Neo since version 3. I hate version 3 because it’s super slow nowadays. Sometimes I have to use Creality Slicer for its slightly faster speed, but it doesn’t allow me to connect it to my Nebula Pad that I installed on my Ender-3 Max Neo, and it doesn’t have an updated list for filament settings. Please bring compatibility with Ender-3 Max Neo to Creality Print.

Hello all, I have a question regarding connecting my printer to creality print 6.0. I have an Ender-3 S1 Plus connected to a creality box 2.0. When I used CP5.1 it has no issues connecting to the printer. However, when I try to link the printer to CP6.0 it says printer does not exist. Has anyone else come across this issue?
