I’m relatively new to 3d printing but am really having issues lately and could use some guidance. Lately ive been having issues with sticking to the build plate and now i believe the nozzles are clogging and im not sure how to troubleshoot. I got a new build plate which worked great for 1 print…now im using glue sticks because im out of ideas.
In your printer toolbox should also be a bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the bed. I use a spray bottle.
Occasionally clean (scrub) with dish soap. Dawn liquid is one that works…
Using a textured build plate can help also.
Good dry filament…
After all that you should rarely if ever need glue…
Research Z offset so you can adjust that also…
Thanks! I use the IPA every time and use Dawn (blue one) often too. This roll is a new filament too but I do have a dryer as well. I’ve fiddled with the Z Offset but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
Looking at your picture again I think the nozzle is too close to the bed and is scraping the filament.
What settings are you changing in the slicer for Z offset…? Try raising the nozzle up…
Print a flat test square to watch how it prints…
What model printer…?
I think you’re right about it scraping the bed but if he raises the Z then he may have issues with the other quadrants/areas being too high. I bet that’s a KE and not SE model. This is what we’ve been discussing in other threads: The (KE) bed will not properly auto calibrate & Z thus there will be points of the bed that will print perfectly and others that will scrape or be too high leading to an imperfect 1st layer and much hair loss ;).
It’s never going to be perfect but maybe he will find that acceptable balance.
I wonder if they will ever update the firmware to fix the BL touch mesh?
I was having problems with the z axis and the print not sticking. I had to keep adjusting the z offset and doing a calibration between every print. The problem was that there was a lot of play on the righthand screw for the z axis (on KE). tightened it up and leveled it with the glue stick trick (two identical glue sticks under the carriage) and it works great now.
It’s a V3 SE. I haven’t touched the z offset in the slicer. I’ve tried adjusting the z offset during the brim.
As Dan says make the gantry parallel to the bed is a great start, mine was out by a good 0.5mm. Sort that then do all the autolevel routine. Do a print with either wide skirt or brim and adjust Z-offset so it sticks to the bed. Turn off autolevel between prints as that deletes your z-offset. Once sorted it should stay that way, I can be confident that if set off a print it will be great everytime, even though it is in the shed way over there.
Not sure if you solved this issue, but I was having same issues. It was not until I took the build plate off, washed it with warm water and dish soap, Dawn, but I don’t think that matters what brand, then dried and used a cotton pad and isopropyl alcohol to wipe it down again, then I spray an even light coat of hair spray on it, let that dry and problem solved. I have the creality endur 3v3 and it prints like a boss. I also do this with my Creality K1 and it uses a smooth plate and I can print perfectly with this method.
