Today I noticed that a cube that I printed didn’t fit where it was supposed to go because it was “leaning”.
I remembered that a few weeks ago during calibration the print head had, (during the final XYZ calib, before heating up the nozzle), moved to the center to calibrate the Z axis but instead of stopping it had continued to move backwards so far that the height sensor was outside the print plate. This cause the nozzle to hit the print plate with an awful sound and after awhile it stopped trying. I turned it off, moved the print head and noticed a large dent in the print plate. Turned it on again thinking it wouldn’t work but I got it printing again.
This event must have bent the gantry, I checked with a square and it is bent compare to the print plate. I tried loosening the gantry screws and retighten them but it didn’t help. The only thing I can think of is physically trying to bend the gantry back into the right position but it is a pretty risky move.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Below photos of how much it is bent. I force the angle iron against the two rails where the printer head and took a photo of the angle iron against the printer bed. There is quite a large deflection.
