Ender 3 V3 SE - updates like network interface?

Hi,

Long time 3D-printer user here, but stopped a while because of work, moving etc. Got a 3 V3 SE last autumn for my birthday and i (and the kids) love it! Just printing with no hazzle, but possible to do some stuff. So i’m some sort of newbie but also not

I’m now looking for hardware updates, like a network interface to send gcode without using a SDcard. I found the Sonic Pad + serial to USB-cable, but don’t know if the Sonic can receive gcode through the network.

a) is an update with network interface possible with the 3 V3 SE?
b) is there a good list or starting point of possible upgrades?

thanks in advance!

Sonic Pad and USB/serial interface will let you connect via the LAN/WIFI. Mine is connected to a V3SE and an Ender 5+, you can access the Sonic Pad via its IP address and drag drop gcode to each printer. You can connect webcam to the sonic pad, but not just any webcam it needs to output in a certain format (can’t remember off top of my head) annoyingly though you can only view one camera, you can’t switch between them. With one printer that won’t be a problem, perhaps with one printer you might be able to “one click print” like I can on my V3KE.

You can also upgrade with Nebula pad, Raspberry PI, but I have no experience of those.

Hi @MatthijsG,

You have a plethora of options:

As @Bonfireman indicated, you can Use the a sonic Pad.
Creality also had the Nebula pad & camera - pretty much the same thing.
You can install Octoprint &/or Klipper on a Raspberry Pi (or PC/Mac) running pretty much any operating system: Debian, *nix, Windows, or MacOS.

All have their benefits & brickbats. You has some research to do!

Enjoy!

Mikey.

FYI: I have my E3V3SE connected to a Win10 PC running Octoprint and a modified Marlin (1.0.7).
I’ve not touched the SD card since I updated it, and then 6 months before that.
So far so good.
