Hello All, I have a question that I’m hoping some of you expert 3d printers can answer for me. I am totally puzzled as to why my new 6 month old KE printer has just all of a sudden started printing above the print bed with no input changes from me. I have been really happy with the KE since I purchased it and printed all kinds of .stl’s over the past few months, everything printing extremely well. Coming from an old Anet a8 that I built and upgraded over the past 8 years. This new Creality ender 3 v3 KE is like something out of science fiction to me it has worked so well.
Well the printer has sat unused in the office for the past couple months because life just happens some times
but this weekend I needed to print a table saw gauge holder and after using Creality Print to slice it, as I have done since I purchased the KE, [ I used to use Cura all the time but thought Id give Creality Print a try that way I can send files directly to the printer to print] I started printing it and everything was printing 2 to 3mm above the bed. I stopped the print and re sliced and started printing it again but the same thing happened. I stopped, I started researching this problem and finally downloaded a new firmware update to the KE installed it, but no change. I tried adjusting the Z offset while printing without much luck. I was totally confused and bewildered as i have not changed any settings since I started printing with the KE months ago. Well finally it dawned on me, maybe the Creality Slicer was the problem so I checked and there was a new version of Creality Print out so I downloaded it and Installed it, Creality Print 5.1
After getting aquainted with the new interface I re sliced my gauge .stl and uploaded it to the printer, started printing and now everything is just like it was 6 months ago, its printing great again.
What could of happened in the Creality slicer that caused all of the problems. I don’t have a clue why this happened. What I’m wondering is, is this something that is going to be an on going problem, every few months the printer or slicer is going to have a brain fart and start screwing up again without any changes from me. I’m really puzzled why this happened. You can sure use up a lot of time trying to figure out something like this!
I’m wondering have any of you run into similar problems, Hoping this isn’t going to be an ongoing issue in the future.
Any input from you guys will sure be appreciated. Thanks in Advance
Still Puzzled Here!
Hope this might help someone else who has run into a similar situation.
Did you go back to using Cura to print this part? I have mixed views on Creality Print 5.1, works great on my home PC on my V3KE but hates my V3SE on a SonicPad, but it doesn’t hate it enough to print in thin air.
Thanks for the reply, No I am only using Creality print 5.1 right now, I’m trying to learn all the ins and outs of it just because I thought why not use the slicer that comes with the KE and see if it works. It has done fine so far except for this hickup that I posted about. But since the new updated 5.1 this weekend that I downloaded and installed it is printing everything perfect so far. Just hope it stays that way.
