My son has tried to resurrect the printer that was left in the garage in disgrace. After a successful test print he sent a file ready to print something a bit bigger.
This did not go smoothly and we have just discovered a few days later that the filament has set all round the print head/nozzle etc (I hope I got the terms right).
I’ve attached a photo in the hopes that someone can offer some practical advice on if we can sort this or if we’ve killed it
Heat the nozzle up to about 250°C and leave it a while, you should be able to peel the filament off. Careful of the wires they can break and then you need to replace parts. Might need a new silicone sock but they are cheap and expendable parts. I have a feeling your z-offset was too high which is why you got the blob of death. Perfectly fixable. You may need a heatgun or soldering iron to help remove the blob just be patient. I’ve fixed much worse without too many spares.
