Glass Build Plate

I have a piece of 220mm X 220mm glass I would like to use as a build plate. Do I place this over the existing surface or remove it and place it directly on the bed?

220x220 is the build area you would really need 235x235 bed size, I would place it directly on the magnetic bed, less chance of slipping. Will need edge clips or bulldog clips to really locate it. Glass is ok, I’m not a fan, i find it chips on removing prints, not tried tempered glass though.
