I purchased a Creality K2 Plus from the Creality Amazon store in July and have experienced ongoing reliability issues from virtually the first day of ownership. Looking back, I should have returned it immediately after the second print when the machine suffered its first major jam. Instead, I chose to work with support and attempt repairs, believing the issues could be resolved.
Unfortunately, that was only the beginning.
Within the first few prints, the filament sensor failed and required replacement. Over the following months, I encountered a continuous stream of hardware failures, firmware issues, and recurring error codes. Significant examples include the TE2761 error, which took nearly a month to diagnose and resolve in December, and the XS20001 error, which sidelined the printer for approximately three weeks in January. These were not isolated incidents but part of an ongoing pattern of downtime and troubleshooting.

I eventually stopped using it for most prints because enabling it seemed to increase the likelihood of failures. While the concept of multicolor printing is appealing, the implementation caused frequent interruptions, loading issues, false errors, chewing up of filament, significant material waste, and consistent jamming that requires you to disconnect everything and take the entire unit apart each time.
One particularly frustrating firmware bug caused the printer to incorrectly believe that filament had run out inside the CFS. Instead of generating a recoverable error, the machine repeatedly initiated purge cycles. On multiple occasions, the printer continued purging filament indefinitely until manually stopped, effectively dumping an entire spool into the waste chute. Combined with the already excessive purge requirements for multicolor printing, this resulted in an enormous amount of wasted material.
Between failed prints, air-printing incidents, filament jams, CFS-related errors, clogging, and support-directed troubleshooting, I have accumulated three large garbage bags filled with failed prints and wasted filament.
To be fair, when the K2 Plus is functioning correctly, print quality can be good. However, the problem is that achieving consistent operation has been the exception rather than the rule. A printer’s value is not measured by the quality of its best print but by its ability to reliably produce successful prints over time.
In March, the printer produced its final print. Since then, it has become completely unresponsive. It no longer properly detects installed nozzles, the heated bed, or other critical components. There was no catastrophic failure or obvious triggering event—it simply stopped functioning. Creality has sent numerous replacement parts in an attempt to resolve the issue, yet the behavior remains unchanged. Despite months of troubleshooting and substantial hardware replacements, the printer is still unusable.
To make matters worse, Creality declined both a replacement unit and a refund because the machine was outside their 90-day replacement window, despite the fact that much of that time was spent troubleshooting manufacturing defects and waiting for replacement parts.
My experience has led me to conclude that the K2 Plus was released before it was truly ready for the market. On paper, a 350 × 350 × 350 mm build volume, high-speed printing, and multicolor capability for approximately $1,400 sounds like an incredible value proposition. In practice, however, it feels like significant corners were cut in engineering, quality control, and software validation.
Creality’s customer support has been equally disappointing. Email conversations frequently stretch over weeks with little progress. If I receive a response, it often directs me to replace the same components yet again—typically the mainboard or drag-chain cable—regardless of previous repair history. Requests for videos are repeatedly made even after identical footage has already been provided. The process creates long delays without delivering meaningful solutions.
I also own a Creality K1 Max, purchased separately, and while it initially seemed better built, it has recently become unreliable enough that I have largely stopped using it as well.
My recommendation to anyone considering a Creality printer is simple: save yourself the time, frustration, and expense and choose a different ecosystem.
Since purchasing the K2 Plus, I have added a Bambu printer and a Snapmaker U1 to my workshop. Neither has the same build volume as the K2 Plus, but both have provided something far more valuable: reliability.
