Hyper PLA printing issues on Ender 3 KE

Hi there,

I just bought my first 3D printer two weeks ago, and decided to go for a brand new Ender 3 V3 KE.

I bought it in order to print lego speed champion mounts for my kid, and in order to do so I have aqcuired both Creality Hyper ABS as well as Hyper PLA.

I started using the creality slices but ran into quite some troubles with it quite fast so I switched to Cura, for one, for some reason I could not print using creality cloud. It is connected, but it simply does not print, so I am still down for switching the USB stick over and over again.

I have been printing quite some (about 50-isch) wall mounts using ABS, and once properly setup this worked perfectly. As the ABS is quite hard, and fragile, I wanted to print some using PLA as well, but damn, this PLA is giving me quite some headaches.

The amount of stringing, and therefor clogging to the nozzle, and building up a mess on the print, is enourmous. Therefor the print keeps on failing.

I am using Creality Hyper PLA with the following settings:

  • Nozzle temp: 200 degrees
  • Print speed: 300mm
  • Initial layer print speed 50mm
  • Bed temp. 55 degrees
  • Retraction is on
  • Flow 100%

In order to reduce the stringing, I have played with the retraction distance, which does improve, and reduce the stringing and build up of wast on the print, but I am already down to 1.5mm of retraction distance, and still it is not working properly yet, while it has a recommended distance of 0.8mm.

As the Hyper PLA is not a standard profile in Cure, nor, strangely enough I could not find it in the creality print slicer, I have created custom profile.

I cleaned the nozzle, checked all screws which are all fine. can anyone please advise in this one?

Thanks in advance.

PLA and ABS like to be dry, they soak up moisture readily. Do you have a drier? Also for stringing have you run a temperature tower. Cura is ok but give Orca a try, it has some great calibration tests. Good luck on printing ABS without an enclosure, it does warp quite readily if it isn’t in a heated chamber.
