Hey all new to 3d printing and I have an ender 3 v3 se and I see a lot of people update the hotend with the ceramic with the quick swap nozzles but I also see a lot of negative with them coming apart and stripping out. But in general is it worth the upgrade from the stock hotend? I’m looking to just make it the best it can be for an entry printer for me just starting out. Thank you for any input you guys have.
Hello Dkishton1486,
Unless you want to print with filaments other than PLA and PETG, I would not bother at present.
Get some life out of it and enjoy printing.
If you want to give the V3SE a real boost in performance and ease of use, get the Sonic pad for it. You will be glad about it
Cheers.
Yes I was looking at the sonic pad today and was ponder back and forth on it because I see so many good reviews and then I see bad reviews so I’m still at a toss up with it but I’m starting to lean towards it. Especially because I picked up an Ender 3 today for $72 brand new in the box still but debating on if I want to sell the Ender 3 or keep it and use the sonic pad to run them both on
Hello Dkishton1486,
I bought the Sonic pad for my V3SE after @Bonfireman spoke about it.
The best investment for it I believe.
Yes, you can get a Micro swiss hot end or maybe direct drive, PEI plate … etc, but what are you going to print ?
As it is new and I guess has not done much work yet, get the Sonic pad and be done with that printer for a bit. Modify the Ender 3 for now.
Cheers
I too had an Ender V3 S1, I purchased a Sonic Pad to control it and it was great. I decided to take the plunge and buy a K1 Max, it just blows the Ender 3 out of the water. I sold the Ender 3 and the Sonic Pad it’s not needed anymore, all the new printers will run similar s/w so It will become redundant and not saleable anymore. If you don’t want to change what you’ve got, then a Sonic Pad is a no brainer get one.
Hey Dkishton1486,
If you’re mainly using PLA and PETG, you don’t really need to upgrade the hotend. The stock one works fine for those. As a beginner, it’s better to enjoy printing with what you have first. If you want better performance, the Sonic Pad is a great choice and will help a lot.
