K1 Max CFS Upgrade

That’s what I am getting, too. “[United States] insufficient inventory of goods”

They are available on Amazon. I purchased mine there.

I got one of those kits from Amazon and installed it. The process was a bit involved because I tried my best to avoid shortcuts. The only issue I ran into was with the new extruder: the three bolts weren’t aligned properly at first, and I was hesitant to force them into place. After a few careful attempts, I managed to get everything together.

One thing to note: once you’ve modified the printer, you’re dealing with a completely different machine. With the CFS and multicolour features, there’s a lot going on, many things you might not be familiar with, and it can take some effort to get everything working smoothly. That doesn’t mean the mod doesn’t work, just that there’s a learning curve for all the new capabilities and the potential issues that come with them.

Moreover, once you start printing in multicolour, you’ll finally realise it’s done layer by layer, which comes at a cost in both filament and time. Do you really need multicolour? Personally, I’ve ended up using the CFS more for selecting which filament I want to print with, without having to swap it manually each time, rather than for actual multicolour prints. That said, it’s still nice to have the option.

PS. Do not take shortcuts when installing the mod, that may cause issues. Good luck!

I don’t know if youve gotten yours yet, but it’s available now. The first, and most important thing is, check with creality, tell them when you got your printer, because at some point in time they changed the nozzle and heatsink. the upgrade doesn’t fit the old nozzle/heatsink, so you have to get a new nozzle/heatsink. The new nozzle has a long tube sticking out of the top, and you have to remove the ptfe tube in the print head.(it’s about 3/4 of an inch, and it’s under the extruder)

Is there a way to tell the old and new nozzle/heatsink apart just from looking at them? If not, hopefully Creality will be able to provide a SN where they changed to the new part. I’ve had my upgrade kit for a few weeks, but I’m reluctant to install it because the printer has just been flawless, and I don’t have a desperate need for multi-color. I’d use it more to switch to a new roll when the old roll runs out, or to pick which color I want to print a part with.

Update- From some searching, my K1 Max from Jan 2024 likely has the V2 hot end, so I’m assuming I’d have to update to the latest version which as far as I can tell is this? Creality Official K1/K1 Max/K1C Upgrade Ceramic Heating Block Hotend Kit, Unicorn Quick Swap Nozzle Kit, High Temperature Resistant, All-Metal Integrated Design Kit for K1 Series 3D Printers: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific Does that seem correct?

To be honest it is better to get the hi combo or i7 instead of upgrade the K1 with CFS. It is kind of complicated and it might messing things up.

With the sales / discount price of hi combo and i7. Official webstore live streaming with good deals. Keep your K1 as single color and the other for multiple color printing.

2 printers always better than one. Just sharing my thoughts. Happy printing :+1:
