K1 Max dim printer screen after CFS firmware upgrade

So I asked on discord if anyone else has had this issue and it seems to be a trend. If your printer screen goes to sleep sometimes when you wake it it doesn’t load up to the full brightness and is unresponsive. I have had this on a few occasions now. I also just had a print finish and the screen that comes up at the end that you can choose Print again or OK comes up at full brightness and you can press those buttons but then it goes back to the dim man in screen that is unresponsive. I covered the center of the screen to cover up what I was printing as I didn’t want it to be the focal point of the discussion.

Hi I have this issue also, dim and unresposive.
Rebooting the K1 Max clears it and it goes back to normal until the same happens again a few hours later.

Hi, I have the same problem too, Creality is sending me a new display but I have doubts that it is a display problem since I am not the only one having this problem, could it be a firmware bug?

Yes I think so. I doubt it is the screen. Hopefully someone from Creality can figure out the issue and patch it for the a future update.

It’s not the display, it’s the firmware. If I put old firmware on the screen is fine. Only goes dim with the CFS firmware.

Same problem here! I set the screen to never dim in the settings, and it will stay on all the time!

I am having the exact same issue! I have set screen to not turn off I will see if that works till a fix becomes available.

This is a strange one, if I unplug the Lidar the screen is ok and never goes dim.
I have no idea why this is effecting it.
I have also swapped it with another and get the same issue so that is what is causing the problem.

So I do not have the lidar installed at all. Didn’t have it installed when I did the firmware upgrade either. Still have this issue.

Same issue. Just done the CFS install on my K1 Max and after printing all morning I have found my display dim and unresponsive, which is usually a state reserved for my dog.

Same here.
It happens at the end of the first print after the power has been recycled.
After the second print the screen disappears altogether.
I’ve raised a ticket and referenced this thread.
So far support’s suggestion is… check the connections.
REALLY Creality?? Do you not read the tickets? “…after a power on / off everything goes back to normal.” How would this be a cabling issue???
As soon as I get a solution I’ll post it here.
If anyone beats me to it - please do likewise.

ant progress on this issue yet? I’ve also been getting the same thing on my K1 with cfs and its rather annoying.

Super annoying. I usually do my purge/retract on the screen so I can see it doing it. Now I’m having to reboot or use my computer.

It’d also be lovely if they could firmware fix the layer count being incorrect.

Yeah I have seen that before as well. They also need to fix Creality Print 6.1 on Mac a lot. Many bugs. this

There was a suggestion in another thread to change the Screen Off timeout setting - if it is on 3 minutes → select 5 minutes and then select 3 minutes again. This seems to have fixed it for me as well.

I have been free of the screen dim for 2 days…
I completely wiped the K1 Max back to factory settings.
Then, once I’d gone through all the set up and testing, I flashed the latest firmware from the website - which is CFS compatible.
I’m not saying it’s cured… I’m saying that I’ve been printing for 2 days (15-20 prints) and haven’t had a recurrence.
If it does come back I’ll update !!

Can you tell if the firmware you downloaded was the same as what was on the USB stick, or has it been updated? I got my upgrade kit a couple weeks ago, but I’ve been holding off until some of these issues get resolved. When I look at their downloads on the website it appears the latest firmware is from Dec 2024. Maybe the machine can access newer software directly?

I don’t think the CFS firmware was uploaded online. At least it wasn’t in December of 2024. It ends in .33. I think the last version of the non upgrade firmware was 1.3.3.46. The CFS firmware is something like 2.x.x.33 (I forget the numbers)
