Hi all, I am curious about what you have done for the light mod.
Did you use one of both led wires?
Did you stick the led strip to the sides of the top of the enclosure?
I did the mod and I stuck the led strip to the top of the enclosure. I used two sections of led so that I could spread the load across the two existing wires, those wires are very thing they are 28AWG and my led strips draw 280mA each so it’s within what the wires can carry.
I have two issues now; the first is that the led strips flicker when the temperature of the extruder hits 220 and up.
The second issues, which I should have expected already. The led strip starts to detach due to the heat. It is mostly an issue at the ends where there are wires and hence more weight. I have had to use some nylon high temp tape there to hold it.
Just remembered another solution to issues with double sided tape losing adhesion at higher temps and that is to use high temperature silicone which is good to 200ºC. Probably still need to use some small segments of double sided tape to hold the LED strips on while the silicone dries.
I made a riser that includes a channel for a LED tape. I only used one of the plugs and left the 2nd one connected to the OEM light. The riser has a clip holding the end with the wire to help keep it in place. It also has mounting holes around the entire riser for mounting whatever but the holes could be used for attaching extra clips. I haven’t had a problem with the glue and the strip says it is rated to 60C, that is about the max chamber temp I use. I did have problems when it was just stuck to the K2 before I created the riser.

I LIKED YOUR POST! I WAS LEERY TO TRY THE SOLUTION YOU TOOK BECAUSE OF THE 28 GAGUE WIRES. INSTEAD i BOUGHT AN INEXPENSIVE ( ABOUT $4.00 ON AMAZON) MOTION ACTIVARED LED LIGHT. YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE PHOTOS. I LAY IT ON THE FRONT TOP OF THE GLASS. THE LIGHT IS " EZVALO Closet Lights, Wireless Under Cabinet Lighting, 30 LED Rechargeable Motion Sensor Light." IT WORKS GREAT!
YOU CAN ALSO SEE I BUILT A SIMPLE WOODEN CARRIER ON THE K2 TO CARRY THE FILAMENT HANDLING SYSTEM ABOVE THE GLASS SO I CAN REMOVE GLASS WITHOUT MIVING THE WHOLE SYSTEM. IM WORKING ON DESIGNING THE CARRIER FOR PRINTING ON THE K2 … SOON.
You can do the light mod without fear, I split the load across both wires so only 280mA per wire which is fine for those wires. I considered using something on top of the glass too but it was going to add more stuff and more wires.
