Hi All
My Ender 3 V3 KE is about 3 months old and updated to the latest firmware.
Since I’ve had this printer, I’ve had issues with pausing and resuming prints. I have a number of models that require me to pause to insert magnets or change filament. Frequently, after resuming from a pause, the print quality degrades substantially, ruining the print.
- This happens inconsistently, but more often than not.
- The issue occurs with all filaments, I had this issue on PLA, PETG and SBS
- Issue occurs for GCODE pauses and also when manually pausing from the touch screen.
- Running a full printer calibration prior to the print doesn’t resolve the issue.
- Printing slower doesn’t resolve the issue.
- Playing around with different temperatures doesn’t resolve the issue.
- Happens with prints from different slicers (I tried Creality Print and Orca).
- The duration of the pause also makes no difference, I’ve had this issue after pausing a print for only 20 seconds.
I found one other person online with the exact same issue, but on the K1, and he does a great job at explaining the issue and also included some photos that also reflect my experience. Please have a look at his post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/17p9ki0/inconsistent_extrusion_after_pause_and_resume_on/
Does anyone here knows of this issue or possible fixes/workarounds?

Same problem. I would also like to solve it. But I have a feeling that all those Enders have it. It always does it to me.

Please send me your printed file 3mf, and I will let the engineer verify it. Thank you

Hi, no specific 3MF file, this can happen with ANY print after a pause. It happens at random.

Look at the reddit link in the original post, I get the exact same issues.
Same here. Ender 3 v3 KE and after pause and resuming I would say 90% of the prints fail with what looks like extrusion issues.
It is so bad that I cannot use the print and have to retry. Also tried everything I can think of. Orca creality etc renders same result. I would also like to solve this as I need to do color changes on certain levels of many of my prints.
Attach is a test print. Green came out perfect. After the pause the silver is all messed up

Exactly the same! Random, i fixed it by turn off and after a while turn on. Then start printjng again and sometimes the prints are perfect… but sometimes same error. Overextruding the next layers … Same as in your photos.
… i think there is bug. The gcode is always the same, and it’s equal if only manual pause/resume or by gcode to change the filament.
50% of all pause/resume ends with over extruding and stringing.
One thing helps to 99% … If i see next layer (with new filament for instance) will fail (long string during traffic move) and the nozzle is OVER the print object, i hard switch off the printer, then switch on … And resuming the print wil result perfect.
After that i can print several objects with pause/resume… till (from hell) then it failes again
… that there is no solution, it goes not in my mind
I just started to have this issue, and I don’t know why this happens, It’s always after a pause, I evend did a test just pausing the print, didn’t even chsnge filament, just hit play after the pause and it looks like the Z moves a little bit up in My case

Thanks for the info. I just checked my right z-rod and it also has play. Will defnitly try the fix.
