I have a fairly new Ender 3 vs SE C14 revision only a month old, despite an earlier post of mine talking about the sonic pad I have since reverted back to the most recent marlin firmware due to instability issues. what I am experiencing now is a case where after a successful night of printing where everything is running smooth and quiet as can be. if i go to start a new print in the morning the y axis stepper makes a LOUD noise the bed does move and hits the switch in the back then the entire printer freezes up.
Troubleshooting steps taken:
Ensured proper belt tension,
REPLACED stepper motor with another stepper from Creality.
made sure there is no material in the idler pully for y belt.
bed is smooth moving with appropriate amount of lube and no apparent noises indicating a bearing issue.
Checked all wiring harness connections to motherboard are solid and secured with hot glue.
only thing that seems to help at least temporarily is to take apart the printer and reseat the connector to the Y stepper motor. sometimes if i let it sit powered off for several hours it will also just work then as long as i keep her rolling shes just fine. it seems to happen when shes powered on and idol for some inexplicable reason. so far it has not done this during a print or between prints if i start a new one relitivly soon after i finish a print. that may not be anything but including information just in case.
Does anyone have any advise on what to check on next? I’m leaning to either an issue with the electrical harness or the mother board. i say motherboard simply becasue I have been seeing the C14 has been having a lot of issues that support seems to be trying to keep quiet and its fairly popular to swap for the old c13 board. I am including a video demonstrating issue. forgive the glue mess on the print plate that was from a desperate attempt to get the notoriously crappy Solelin filament to actually stick to anything and not warp during printing. https://photos.app.goo.gl/4Hyq8ZuXc7L1PRbXA
While unlikely to be part of issue, it does have a couple stock mods such as the filament runout sensor and the upgraded unicorn hot end. direct from creality.
