Hey there!
I bought 1mm nozzles for a specific project, attempting to gain visible layer lines and added stability.
It is just…
There is a gap of about 1mm, give or take, at the Z-Seam.
I can still work with the pieces, as I planned on sealing them with epoxy resin anyway, but given that I still need to spend a week of printing to get everything done, I want to avoid the next prints having the same misprint.
Naturally, I tried to change slicers, switching from Cura to Orca.
I set:
Seam position: aligned
Seam gap: 0% from 10%
The print speed is set to 30mm, as I do not yet know the melt volume of my replacement hotend. 30mm assumes a little above 14mm3, which is the “no risk taken” setting assuming a regular ender 3 hotend melt volume. It is highly likely the hot end could handle more speed - the same melt volume means 175mm/second for a regular 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2 layer height.
Cura attempt, 100mm height:
Orca attempt, 150mm height:
As you can see, Orca does slightly better, but both results are horrible.
0.4mm nozzle prints work perfectly.
I also do not experience underextrusion with the 1mm settings.
This is the orientation of the print. It starts with the one at front right, does back right next and finishes with the left one.
The second pillar of all prints looks slightly more horrible, the last one slightly better.
Do you have any idea on how to fix this?
